IAC GEMS #3 In The Night By THE SQUIRE OF SOMERTON
In The Night by THE SQUIRE OF SOMERTON is a totally ace piece of creative retro-pop with a huge late 60s psychedelic flavour.Strongly.Influenced by early Queen,Syd Barrett and The Who i'm guessing.Featuring some of the most stellar n inventive guitar work i've ever heard..And what a thrilling ride it is !
The song is quirky n eccentric to the max ,chock full of ace dramatic changes, brilliant guitar riffs (my favourite the long bent note at the end of each verse ) but beautifully written and performed..
The band just about make those bizarre offbeat change hits that occur twice (once right at the end of the song) in unison..Must've taken alot of practice lol

Wow! You described this one perfectly. It is without a doubt a thrilling ride. The guitar work is outstanding and I really enjoyed those cascading licks full of retro thrills. But for me, the drummer is the star here. The detailed changes, chops, starts and stops are so complicated and intricate. Without the drummer, this song would be impotent. But the drums are right there where they are supposed to be right to the very end. One of my former mentors use to say that the drums are the heartbeat and without a strong heart, your song will die. This song lives! Awesome work! Thanks for pointing this piece out. It was well worth the listen.
