The new Bowie song
I think its sooo beautiful..A real gem.So heartfelt n soulful. He's being intuitive, natural n melodic again.A real sense of hope thru the sadness..Would definitely be one of my IAC GEMS if it was an unknown here - and i couldn't say that about any song he's made since maybe 'Absoloute Beginners' in the mid 80s
Don't think i've heard anything by him that feels so open n vulnerable
Its funny tho seeing alot of truly nasty comments on the web related to this track (mostly about his age/health/appearance) ,why i definitely wouldn't wanna be famous.
The bigger you are the more of an open target for cruelty big time you are -having every vulnerability n weakness in your personality ruthlessly exposed n taunted by the most mean-spirited,eloquent nasty minds around...
People certainly know how to use words as weapons !
I know its easy to say "ignore it -its only words" but how many of us can hand-on-heart say we WOULDN'T be affected at all by that kinda thing ?
You need to develop an iron coat -never mind a thicker skin like i have (after a few years getting reviews on the old garageband.com lol)
No thanx

Just saw this new video for the first time an hour or so ago. (as with all his really good stuff my first reaction is always shock and awe, but in the best way) A little later I happened to be listening to BBC radio in the car and they mentioned what awful reviews it was getting. It strikes me that in addition to being a wonderful musician and singer and writer, he has had the courage to be himself and say how he feels no matter how extreme his different persona/image has been - and let's face it, he's been pretty out there by conventional standards, right along, hell, even by artistic standards.
I guess you get the info you need at the right time. I haven't written any new lyrics in a few months because every time I start, I realize I'm being phony and not really saying what I know is true out of total fear haha - scared to be exposed ... and as you say, even David Bowie gets some stunning criticism for being himself. And no one much notices what I put out there, but absolutely everyone judges him when he puts out something new. But on the flip side of that, his experiences have been beyond belief compared to say .... mine ... So what is that? "you get what you give" or something? hmmmm
A couple of Bowie things that I think are just beautiful in every way:
the Low album, the Station to Station album, the Young Americans album
