Melodious musicality, and on the lyric side adventurous, with twists and turns. Paul McCartney's 'didn't know what i would find there/lookin' for another kind of mind there," expressed beautifully in the song, in the chorus.
Vivid details, and storytellin', wrapped up harmoniously, will listen to this often...
Many facets to this song...the way the vocal slides in, the ba bas, and the harmonies recall the beach boys and a sunny day, but this is a song of experience.
Kudos...

I love those lyrics! Musically this was such a wonderful and adventurous journey through the artful intellect of a master song craftsman. You do have a way with songs that is reminiscent of the songwriters of the 60's and 70's. Thank goodness we have you to keep reminding us of just how great they were. I congratulate you on your continued foray into sonic sculpting. This was magical and uniquely pleasant to listen to.
Much Respect,
Stoneman

Steve Ison introduces the Byrds to the Turtles in this delightful romp through the early 60's. The vocals really capture the essence of those times and the music carries them along with visionary grace. Very enjoyable song!

Good one Steve - nothing 60's -ish or retro with a twist .... with that intro you WENT there directly and kept it up the whole song still without being a parody - just a great tune that someone should have written back then, but glad you thought of it now - wonderful as usual :)

Just listened now.
I like this one Steve.
For me it reminded me more of like The Association with parts reminding me of that song "Judy in Disguise"
Very cool, nice job.

You know what I love about your music, Steve? That it always sounds like you're having fun. It doesn't matter if you're serious or camping it up or affecting a style; it just sounds like you're having fun making music and dreaming songs. And that makes us all have fun, too! Thank you for what you add to the world.

You know I admire your pop hook sense quite a bit. This song has some very great pop hooks. To me it sometimes seems, though, that you are so full of hooks that you rush right over some of your best on the way to the next.
For example, the melody and chord structure on the line "Nothing going on around here" is so great, but changes on the very next pass of that chord and rarely comes back. I coulda heard that about ten more times. This is something that happens with your writing sometimes: rushing right over your genius instead of letting us have more time in an area to soak it in. To me the hooks on this song you finally do repeat are not actually the major hooks of the song. The major hooks get a single pass.
Kind of like I often felt about Elvis Costello and Squeeze, great stuff, why'd you rush right over it and keep changing it all so fast?
Nevertheless, it's top notch stuff. I always think you write and record at the level of real deal artist.

Chandra..Many thanx for ccomments and station add :)
Steve..Love The Association n Judy In Disguise is a cool pop song -Thanx
Tom.. Really appreciate that man Yes,music's an absoloute blessing - and really musical writing/producing (not always lyrics ) is basically a joy and its a space i feel very free in and like a child lol....I'm so glad that comes across !
If i could create the rest of my life like my music i think i'd be a happy person .But i def use it as an escape from the outside world..Its my own mythic space
Bob..I totally see where you're coming from - and maybe you're right..I just "re-wrote" 'Nothing Going On Round Here' in my head repeating the hook on the 3rd line like i can imagine you're ideally hearing it..That'd need a totally different chorus then to balance things out...
The music's so in the moment for me -I'd rarely reflect on something like that tho..I think the nature of the music reflects my personality fast and abit impatient...One of my big turn ons with music is definitely suprise too..Also it took me sooooo many years to be able to move the music with any degree of freedom - a hard won gift- that i think there's something subconsciously scared of losing that ability - so maybe i sometimes overdo the changes lol...Have been working more recently trying to consciously simplify what i do..Will see how that goes...Thanx for the insight tho man :)
