ON THE WAY UP -New album !
So, i finally finished my 2nd album On The Way Up !!
I'm really pleased with it,love the songs and think it works well as an album too..Very happy with the mastering and the beautiful pre-raphaelite style cover my friend Colette did too..I got another 12 tracks properly mastered which will become the 'sister' album to this 'Love In A Strange World' , which i'll prob release in about 8 months..Was gonna release them together as a double album -but thought (rightly !) that that'd be far too much for folks to take in..
Actually released my bands first album The Strangest Feeling on the same day too, so there's been a lot happening recently..

Congrats Steve! You can't believe I was driving along yesterday and the single of On The Way Up surfaced on a playlist shuffle. I was thinking to put a comment on here about how that is one of the best songs ever. Wow you are absolutely prolific these days! Good luck with all!

Kudos, Steve. I've been struggling with delays in my latest project so I know how difficult it can be to put 12 songs together worthy of being on CD. But I'm sure you would agree that no wine should be served before it's time. Your work has a timeless quality to it that always inspires me and carries me away to an alternate universe.
You have a very unique musical and lyrical sensibility that is truly remarkable and even escapist! Your vision of reality is a far more beautiful that the one we're supposed to accept and one to which we can dream to aspire to through your music.

Dolores -Thats so cool ! I absoloutly love it when my songs can make such a memorable impression on someones psyche -Thanx for letting me know :)
Richard..Thats such a wonderful thing to say man ! Its genuinelly touched me and actually made me see my music in a new way..I've never thought about it like that before -but trying to get something together to say to promote this album across the web , it inspired me to change a few lines to reflect the spirit of what you're saying..
Good luck with your own project and many thanx

Steve ~ I'm so glad I could be of help. I feel it is a moral imperative for me to be supportive to other artists especially when I can really relate to what they are doing.
One of the most moving things Paul said in the movie "8 Days A Week" was:
"The four of us loved each other and we had faith in one another. But we needed other people to have faith in us too. Brian Epstein has faith in us. George Martin had faith in us too. We needed that faith to succeed."
Your music inspired me to open up my music and let more air and sunshine in. You've been very successful on this website and it's obvious why you are such a beloved artist. You deserve all the rewards your art can bring to you.

A double album of you. Hmm.
Well I suppose that is beating them over the head with how incredible you are isn't it.
Personally, I would have gone for it. You're much kinder than I am. Cheers, Mate.
Always, ~Lesley

Cheers Bryon..And many thanx for the wonderful creative reviews you've given, supporting my music here that have lifted me up..Means a lot :)
Richard...Thats so cool what McCartney said "We needed that faith to succeed"..For me thats been soooooo true..In our very lowly position adrift as tiny voices in the infinite noise of the internet, its very easy to doubt yourself and get disheartened about what you're doing..I've definitely been given so much energy by people who've had faith in me -so i totally agree with that
Many thanx again my friend :)
Lesley Jane..Thanx alot for the kind words..I promise you tho it wasn't being kind not to release a double album (i'd've LOVED to release a double !), it was purely being pragmati if i wanted to be listened to (and i do )..To get people to actually listen past one song is very tough..To get them to listen to a DOUBLE is next to impossible lol

Beautiful album.
Original is key with you. Your stuff sounds like you are always trying to surprise your own self. You sound like you're trying to satisfy your own need for a certain music, and thus you don't really remind me much of any other band.
I very much feel like I understand a lot of things that drive you, and you're the kind of artist that follows a personal inner drive.
I listened to the whole thing earlier today. Solid and unique.

Thanx so much Bob, Thanx for listening and your kind words -Really appreciated....
Every day is a songwriting adventure for me, at least musically..Just making up little songs on the spot..Being like a child,in the moment....Its the mythic timeless pop world i can get lost in..Its always fun..I constantly need to escape from the mundane life and find something beautiful n transcendent -else life's hell..
That's definitely what drives me..

Does the title indicate that you are now "on the way up" to whatever your definition of "success" is.

Not really Richard..I try hard but don't really feel 'on the way up' as regards success with my music..
I've just spent a month writing to online music blogs every day (targeting ones that roughly like my style of music -altho i don't really fit snugly into any genre)..Prob written to 120 in a month
That's yielded 3 people getting back to me..1 of which has given me a very small review (which is cool).. 1 of them actually wrote back to say "I'll pass"..
Its got to the point where its actually very hard for me to find more online blogs who might like my music to target !
Its very disheartening n disillusioning..
If anyone here knows a better way of promoting your music online please let me know..
I totally believe in the album(s) and am happy to work my arse off to find new listeners for them

The song itself is ironic too...I find it difficult to be genuinelly happy or optimistic...
Even if you get up for a bit, life's always ready n waiting with a sucker punch to knock you back to the floor lol
