A Seperate Forum Here For Site/Technical Issues
Who would like that?
I know i would..
It could be away from the main page so casual listeners wouldn't have to see it..
It probarbly makes more work for staff not having one-having to answer every individual issue from supportmail-when things (like the worrying sudden non-playing of so many songfiles here) must be affecting every one and could just be answered there..
It feels really disempowering not being able to communicate collectively with other users about things like this and find out opinions without falling foul of IACs policy..
Even this blog is against the rules and will prob be taken down-but how else can i find out peoples views on such things without posting here?
There's no outlet
Its a catch 22

....I couldn't agree more. And Steve and I don't always agree on everything!
The way it is at the moment is just a cop out. IAC need to realise that having more open networking of info on site issues can sometimes save them extra work - User A posts an issue which user B reads and knows an answer to and IAC techies needn't have to act.
Also it would doubtless save IAC getting loads of separate emails on the same subject and having to reply to each.
Also it would be a place where IAC could post any info regarding a current issue to all.
Isn't it a no-brainer?

This is a brilliant idea ... As someone who has my comments removed in the past, I would love to see this. I feel it is a cop-out not to allow us to share our concerns about technical issues on the forum.

Steve knows perfectly well that the IAC forum had a site issues section in the 2 years before the pipeline and that it was a huge headache for IAC volunteers to keep up with it. It is much easier to deal with problems as they come in from sincere artists writing to our support hotline, than have a nonstop tango with artists who like to stir shit up with others like themselves and attack the site when their stats aren't good that week or they're impatient with some site fix we're in the middle of. That forum was mainly used by the same artists regularly crying about not making the KIAC Big 50, about male artists who wanted to call women cunts and run newbies off the site bitching about not having free speech.
We realize there are aspects of the site that there are still problems with but we're dealing with them as fast as our resources allow. You would not believe the amount of programming hours that were required to make the site secure from the recent attack(s) from Asia, it put our tech dept. behind on a lot of positive projects that were in the works and we're still catching up.

Velula, the page streaming works fine if you take the www out of your url and just use http://iacmusic.com. Fixing that is on the site repairs list.
