Good point Savage - although we're all for self promotion at IAC there is more than one way to skin a cat if you get my drift. A cleverer and by far more interesting way is to promote yourself as being clever, interesting, thoughtful amusing, community minded or sexy haha! If people like what they read or see they are more tempted to follow the links to investigate.
Now you've brought it up I'll let you know that I'm preparing a "PROMO DAY" for Thursday - The idea is to have a really long thread of 'Strap lines' 'Promos' that answer the question "Why should we listen to you?" Not just lucky bag links but real persuasive arguments.
So IACers start preparing your 'ONE LINERS' ready for my Thursday feature.
While I'm here I'll tell you that tomorrow will be "WISECRACK WEDNESDAY" and I will want your music related jokes please. Tell you more later Byee V.

Well, part of the reason the pipeline was created was for self-promotion. We want to get indies to get involved. We sent out an Email recently to new artists, everybody has received it one time or another, that contains the words..
But it takes so little to widen your sphere of exposure, it's actually kind of tragic when superb artists for whatever reason don't step up and get into the public fray of the online music scene. There are so many listeners, so many station managers at IAC that a few baby steps can put your music into a far larger channel of traffic, basically
lighting up your web presence like a Christmas tree. And no, I'm not talking about spam promo, just encouraging you to Get involved in your music. Don't just toss it like a grenade, run, and wait for it to explode.
One thing I did want to point out though, something we run into a lot is - it's kind of futile to post something that says Check out my new song or Buy my new CD if no one in the crowd even knows you. Now if you take an effort to make it interesting and unique, thought-provoking, even brash, that's one thing, but you're not going to have any success saying I got a new CD, you can buy it here. Or Joe Basher has a new song, dig it. You need to make a better effort than that, at least show some sensitivity to the people who will be reading or you're wasting your time. Introduce yourself and get involved in some of the other discussions first maybe, with all due respect we don't want any boring hit-and-run promo here, we're better than that and so are you.
