TWO IAC bands from DIFFERENT parts of the USA = EAST coast meets WEST coast= An IACMUSIC Community success story, and the importance of LIVE SHOWS!
YUP. We were found by ANOTHER band (EVER UNDER) just as we entered into the IACMUSIC arena. And the COOL part is, they very shortly we're communicating back and forth a litte. THEN -- when they realized they would be on TOUR (which included parts of the WEST COAST-- even though THEY hail from Boston, MA / USA), they took us up on our offer to play together! THAT show is comin' up this SATURDAY in TUCSON, AZ (USA), and ourselves (CONVERSATION SUICIDE) and another local Tucson BAND (THE TICS) couldn't be more excited!
SO there ya go. A true IACMUSIC community story. NOW I just have the STRESS of a Flakey drummer and NEW guitar player to make it all a bit more interesting...BUT I'm not talkin' 'bout stage fright here, I'm talkin' about the fear that another IAC music crew WON'T want to play out with us again!
Y'all HAVE TO agree though, playing out and about is WHAT it's all about! It's true there are Studio Musicians and many artists who, after years of touring, retired to studio only, but by and large: IT's ALL ABOUT the LIVE SHOW! Have to be POSITIVE and interact with the audience and go FULL-TILT to entertain.
Stage fright does exist, but for MOST performers, once you get a taste of the thrill of having folks CLAP, CHEER and DANCE/MOSH/MOVE to something you WROTE and are performing LIVE; you'll only want MORE and MORE! I've been playing/singing LIVE myself for over 10 years, and hundreds of shows, and even to a Small crowd of 5-10 people, I still give it my all, in hopes of a little adoration/praise/connection or some NEW fans! For just a MILD case of stage fright, all you need to do is be sure you, and the rest of your crew, are practiced & prepared and then JUMP on the stage, EVEN if your knees are knockin'. 'Cause guess what? The audience can't see that usually, and once you get into your FLOW or ZONE, it won't matter!
If one has SERIOUS stage fright about any type of LIVE performance, than it's quite possible one should remove PERFORMER from the resume... There's nothing wrong with a person who prefers to stay in the studio. BUT... for MOST artists, GO OUT AND PLAY! It's the SHIT and if you do it up RIGHT, your building future fans that won't fergit!
I STRONGLY encourage other IACmusic artists who DO believe in the LIVE show and find themselves in the AREA of another IAC band, to play a show together! That's what community in the music scene is REALLY about---sharing the FAN base, etc! Someday when our band is a little more STABLE and accomplished, and has the funds, etc. I hope to collaborate on shows with other IAC artists both in the USA and abroad! And now I must quit burnin' the midnite oil... to sleep, perchance to dream.
-Much Love for the Independent Original Music Scene, and this NEW Avenue for artists known as the Independent Artists Company,
