EAST coast / WEST coast -a meeting of minds and MUSIC for TWO IAC artists PART II
All the way from BOSTON, MASS to TUCSON, AZ : TWO IACMusic bands were slated to perform together for the first time, after enjoying each others presence on the internet= EVER UNDER & CONVERSATION SUICIDE (As mentioned in PREVIOUS BLOG by Phlegm)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EVER UNDER did indeed stop by TUCSON, AZ on their current TOUR of the U.S. to play with CONVERSATION SUICIDE!!! THEY were awesome! Ever feel like breaking shit? Well I sure did that night, but since our band is the POOREST one in TUCSON, I had to refrain. BUT EVER UNDER was fearless -- and just like in their PHOTO on MYSPACE, Chris the guitar player jumped up on JOHN's huge bass drum and knocked over a tom drum while JOHN played his guitar with him by his STICKS. It was a sweet moment in HIGH ENERGY "Hard Alternative" (what exactly does that mean?)
Anyway, the beauty of it is that even though they were dirt tired from their whirlwind tour & travel, they STILL busted ass and delivered the HIGH ENERGY show that their site here on IACMUSIC promises!
Sadly, CONVERSATION SUICIDE was forced to perform with a RANDOM guitarist and the drummer from THE TICS (the other "hard alternative" = HARDCORE PUNK band that played that night), because BOTH of these positions were FLAKED on by the NOW fired members of PHLEGM's currently troubled band.
Phlegm still put on a show though, even amidst the chaos, with a hilarious cover that blew chunks at the guitarists feeble attempts at emulating LED ZEPLIN'S STAIRWAY to HEAVEN.
THE outside venue was beautiful with an excellent ambience, but NO P.A. so, until Chris, John & Jordan of EVER UNDER came through with a makeshift mike setup through an AMP, Phlegm had to YELL his lyrics, which added to the punky-funky chaos. The last two tunes had JOHN of EVER UNDER on the DRUMS with PHLEGM and clearly, if they had enlisted JOHN from the start--the performance would have been MUCH tighter! PROPS to JOHN once again! The final tune by CONVERSATION SUICIDE was Phlegm singing and playing BASS to their as yet unrecorded tune VOICEBOX/TIGHTBOX and JOHN on drums. This went over quite well.
Unfortunately the show was NOT publicized enough and competing with too many other TUCSON events that helped to diminish the crowd to between 16 and 25 people.
Hopefullly, EVER UNDER and other IACMUSIC touring bands coming to ARIZONA will consider playing with CONVERSATION SUICIDE in the future, with his PROMISE of having BAND members who've actually played his SONGS before & enough publicity to bring in some bodies NEXT TIME!
Clearly Phlegm's dream of his first partnering on IACMUSIC was somewhat removed from the resulting reality. He remarks: " Anybody wanna move down to TUCSON and become a GUITARIST or DRUMMER Permanently of CONVERSATION SUICIDE who is NOT strung out on TWEAK/HEROIN or some other non-functional addictive drug? "
PROPS to EVER UNDER for delivering under such a busy/tiring schedule that they're on at a show that went so FAR OFF from what had been expected/planned!
