Conversation Suicide is moving to ENGLAND, Ireland or Scotland --> UK or BUST!
Seriously, we are planning to move to the UK for the FAMILY's dreams and so I'm taking the band with me too. Anybody got some suggestions for an American with only a Bachelor of Science, and out of the loop with my original profession, to make themselves appear as viable as possible for a move? Uh.... This is actually a serious question, we have to figure it out for ourselves, but I thought maybe folks with a musician/artist mind and life like mine, might have some ideas I haven't found on the web yet.
From a musical standpoint, I've basically got 2 years (until 2010, the planned move date), to try and GET FURTHER musically in the US. Otherwise, I'll be coming to the UK as an almost completely unknown artist, just like I am currently in the USA. Anyway, that's why we're pushin' so hard right now. I'm hoping to get the current musicians I'm with to stick it out until the NEXT time we can afford to go to the studio again, so I can record one last time in the USA.
BUT enough about dreams of "stardom". Since I plan to stay a musician, whether it ever "goes anywhere" (whatever that means), thought I would check with other UK musicians, or Musicians who've tried such a migration before -- Right now it's looking like going for a MASTERS degree is a must--to be as desired for migration as possible.
So... Uh...If you have any ideas, let me know.
Thanks! -Phlegm of Conversation Suicide
