ANd How 'bout that DIRGEK and LyinDan they BOTH rocked the popular VOTE in a few categories!
HELLLSSS YEAAAAHH!!!!
NOW we'll see what round 2 and the JUDGES may bring, eh?
I just hope they don't call on Judge Dread.
He's a little too Black & White, in his understanding of the laws of musak.
There's really quite a bit of GREY you know.... THese songs we're supposed to be DEMOS - so a little lacking in production quality really SHOULD be accounted for.... in my li'l opinion.

Congrats to you, phlegmie, you're a powerhouse! :)
And lots of others. I pumped a few people off the bottom of the lists who didn't (in my humble opinion) deserve to be there. I hope the judges agree and they end up in the top half.
I hope I contributed in some way to the interest in the contest. I tried :)

Welllllll.... I probably spoke out of turn....
We DO have a trip to New York/New Jersey & Possibly the UK, planed for next year..... If we can get OUT of this financial hole soon!
OUCH.
Oh the THINGS our family could accomplish artistically, with just a little more money and time.
But, I'm sure ALL Indie artists, face THAT reality.
The GOOD news is, we're gettin' shows again. Got a couple GOOD ones lined up for October ...
ROCK on Jill. Congrats on DirgeK's most EXCELLENT music, dominating in a few categories, once again.
And LyinDan ---- YES -- you DEFINITELY kept it FUN, in the categories I was votin' for ya in! Living up to your sarcastic humourous stylin'....

Pip & Merry, you know I dig you da most!
Silverdoods (Rob) - CONGRATS once again, for YOUR successes !!! I think good things are happenin' here!
TODD You are correct sir, Another Day by CHEW TOY is in 3rd spot by popular vote. You really are da man Todd.
But didja notice that TWO Romulus X Records affiliated bands took the top TWO SLOTS of Punk/Emo/Ska??
HEY, wait a minute, what am I thinking? WE SHOULD congratulate other folks.
I'll START.
How about that REVERSE for I wish I were Friends with some Lesbians
What the FUCK???? WHOOPS there's a mystery
Looks like they were REMOVED from the TOP 3 of POP - What's up with that? Their song is pop at it's BEST !
It should STILL be in the TOP 3, man.
RIDDLE ME THAT, Huh? huH???
Another GREAT one though: I'm Not Afraid to Love You,
by our OWN Weird Al of IAC LyinDan.
It's NO. 4 in ALternative Pop Rock! FUCK Yeah!!!!!
that song, especially the lyrics and their delivery vocally; well it's fuckin' hilarious, that's what it is!!
Anybody ELSE, have some favourite stand-outs to congratulate?

So, no voting until Aug. 13th, eh?
Well, let me just re-iterate the congrats to Larree and Caneman, for their successes in the HIP-HOP Charts.
I was happy to see one of my own personal favourites, from Slimdog Productions, makin' it to the TOP 7 :
DEAR MOMz featuring 2Mental and Jewelz
BUT the BIG battle there, in my opinion, is between Meshwell, Kritikal and ROhain, with Sohnn comin' up FAST from further down in the TOP 20....
Can't wait until the Lucky Aug. 13, for ROUND 2 on The Hip-Hop Battleground...
And all the other genre playing fields for that matter!
What's some of YOUR phavourite genre busters, out there in Contest Land, y'all?

Looks like "Le Cadre Photo" made it into the second round in the 'world' catagory. Offsets the pain of not having "Born A Genius" make it in the 'blues/jazz' catagory.... arrgh.....
Thanks for the support. For those who don't know the story: "Le Cadre Photo" is a french translation of my song "Blurry Photograph". Chrystelle Nammour, a young woman living in Paris, took my guitar track (sent by MP3), translated my words from English to French, and added her vocal. She's half Lebanese and her vocal delivery, the 'in between' notes, reflect that heritage. Have a listen and if you like what you hear, please send a vote our way.

"Another Day" by ChewToy (#3 Punk/Emo/Ska)
"Ashes on the Water" by Hop On Pop (#8 Alternative Pop/Rock)
I am genuinely surprised to have any songs still in the competition at all, let alone to have such a great showing. Thanks again!

Wow. This thread took off while I was gone! TODD a HUGE congrats for your GREAT tunes, and their 1st Round success.... I know I voted for 'em -- they are TWO of my phavourites and here's the LINKS y'all --if you haven't already, you should give 'em a few good listens --they are SUPERB, and COMPLETELY category appropriate:
"Another Day" by ChewToy (#3 Punk/Emo/Ska)
"Ashes on the Water" by Hop On Pop (#8 Alternative Pop/Rock)
uhhjh...... yowzer -- we got a flurry of fluffy li'l bunnies activity up in here too... Thanks for stoppin' by Topsy, Mopsy, Curley, Moe and uh... One-Eyed jack Rabbit.... Tis Nice to see ya hittin' the blogs again.
And a HUGE thank you for the visits by Bob Elliot, JAKE, John Pippus, JP Sharpe, Steve White and Bryon Tosoff --- RAWK on y'all !!!!
Mr. Scotti -- I'll definitely keep my eyes peeled for that forthcoming HARD ROCK tune of yours -- but you gotta know -- you're already killin' the Classic Rock & related Retro categories, so I'm bettin', with the right singer and tune, you'll be murderin' the Hard Rock category too...

yup, Richard you are SO correct on that one. Todd's songwriting, singing and playing is simply some of the BEST in Indie-land!
And don't forget to help THESE recently added GREAT tunes, to catch up in the voting:
AUSET's Don't Give In for SONGWRITING category
and her Waterloo for the Folk/Acoustic Rock/Americana genre
LAST but NOT least two BRAN NEW entries for the ALTERNATIVE genre:
The Mystic by Auset
and (shameless self-promo time again)
The Sun is Risin' by Conversation Suicide
BOTH of these two made it to the TOP 5 of ALL genres in the past, so PLEASE give 'em a good listen and if your so inclined PLEASE VOTE for some quality ALTERNATIVE genre BRAN-NEW additions to the contest.....
