Stevie Wonder, anybody like him?
He's a genius, in my opinion. Superstition is one song I could hear a million times without getting tired of it. He has so many songs that are amongst my favorites and Talking Book has to be one of the best records of all time.

Yes, he is one of the alltime greats, and revolutionised the "groove" in pop music by employing elements of Cuban jazz in his work,
The only track of his that I dont like is "I Just Called"(telephone song), but everything else he has done is great.

I recently watched a series of instructional programmes about how music is produced and constructed and the roots of each genre and how new styles developed. One whole programme was devoted to Stevie W with hands on examples of how he had changed emphasis in rhythms and traditional structures to take the listening experience to a new level. This was some class master who we can all learn from if we are of a mind or simply just appreciate and accept that a revolution like this may never again happen.

And how did Stevie find what he did/does musically? - Because he's blind and therefore plays with his eyes closed and consequently plays directly from his heart and not his head. Your eyes are an extension of your brain and constantly feed your head.
I always play better with my eyes closed, do any of you guys?
Ray Charles is another Hero. Yes, and Hendrix and actually many more when you start to think about it.

Stevie Wonder is just...iconic. He has informed the way we think about construction, singing, arrangements...everything. His vocal style is often imitated but never duplicated. Even in his Motown cavalcade days, he was just something more, go back and take a close listen to "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" and compare it to the other stuff that was going on at the time...Vanguard! But Talking Book...Talking Book...jeez! The hook on "Superstition" is legendary! Maybe your Baby...all of it amazing. Even writing for Chaka Khan and Rufus, "Tell Me Something Good" has got one of the best pockets in history. Ribbon in the Sky...amazing. The man's golden production period lasted for nearly three decades. I don't begrudge the later work so much because really, who could be expected to stay in that pocket forever.
In summary - Stevie? Hell Yes!
