Listen, it's ok to want there to be more than 2 parties, that of course would be a good thing. However it's just not real. It's like wanting to buy beer from 7-11 after the legal time. You just can't get beer then.
If you don't vote for Obama, you're saying you're ok with more Bush, which is inexcusable.

Yes, let's exterminate everyone who doesn't hold the same view as us!
I'm voting for Obama, because THAT'S what HE believes too!
Wait ... that's wrong. Wait ... Obama's stand on foreign issues is?
Wait ... is he isolationist? Wait ... he wants to "change Washington". Does that mean he plans to replace it with foreigners? If not, why is he so soft on immigration?
Wait ... was it his wife, Michelle that reported he was soft? It's SOOO confusing.
Good thing I have sound bites to sort it all out!!!
Now I know EXACTLY who the RIGHT CHOICE is ... because the AMERICAN SYSTEM IS THE BEST IN ALL THE WORLD.
No problem w/ capitalistic control ... NONE whatsoever.
Which is why I'm voting for Obama.
Because then we can become a true Obamanation.
Which I totally prefer to McCain. That would just be hell. Damn I hate Republicans, they should all be exterminated. No life value whatsoever ...
It's all about balance, isn't it? Too much Pubbies didn't get a damn thing done. Too much Dems will do exactly the same ... my prediction.
Want to get something done these days?
Democratic Prez/Republican Congress ... It works. Pubbie congress holds cost down, Dems keep pubbie cult oriented social agenda in line.
Pubbie Prez/Democratic Congress ... Everything is vetoed even GWB issued first veto in Dem controlled congress, and he's had what? ONE?
Pubbie Prez/Pubbie Congress ... Riddled w/ corruption. It's fox in the hen house gone wild.
Democratic Prez/Dem Congress ... Prepare to pay. Again and again . Not for good stuff btw ... Dems are wonderfully wasteful leaders. Let's set up a thousand programs where the gov can hand out more money.
I'm still voting for B.O. btw ... no matter how much he smells. Only scenario #1 works these days.
All of the above can be trusted to protect the U.S. it is the prime directive.
Be more critical of everything ... credibility is earned through broad thinking ...
Avoid narrow, party driven dictum. It fosters weirdness via narrow perspective. Consider Nazism as the extreme. It's total control gone wild.
Consider ...

Holo,
You wrote: "If you don't vote for Obama, you're saying you're ok with more Bush, which is unexcusable".
I usually just sit back an watch the political fireworks go back and forth. But that line to me attacks my right to choose regardless of who or what I stand for. Mind you..... It's the Idea alone that we have the ability to vote without people trying to decide for us. At one time, I was trained to fight and even kill so that you could have that same right. Your FREEDOM of speech is included too.......So you can say what you want.
That's my two cents for the day!

Sorry, I meant inexcusable, not unexcusable, bad typing.
Kevin, your long post there just displayed that you're not an informed person. It's best you don't vote, probably.
I do think it's inexcusable for somebody to be a Bush supporter now, or to vote for McCain who is basically (though he didn't used to be) more of the same. He has broken the law hundreds of times and especially artists should be disgusted the way he's chipped away at our constitutional rights.
Holo saying it's inexcusable isn't like I'm saying you don't have the right to vote for McCain or waste your vote on some symbolic 3rd party candidate. I'm just saying if you were a personal friend of mine and I saw you every day and you told me you don't intend to vote for Obama I'd try to talk some sense into you to the point of totally haranguing you to see the light of day.
Face it, we're having all kinds of problems in Afghanistan now and never got Bin Laden on top of it. Meanwhile all those resources we need are wasted in a country that doesn't even want us there, that we actually have spies now on the armies we helped train! Cheney promised lowered gas prices from this Iraq war and we see how that worked out. Bush is an embarrassment to the US, has made us hated around the world and yes, it's inexcusable to put McCain in there for more of the same.

It's a shame that politics has to involve politicians. I'd feel safer if affairs were handled by experts and people who were prepared to 'pick and mix' the best policies. The thing that shocked me most in this thread however is that Larree was a librarian, Wow I never would have imagined that ()

Kevin, your long post there just displayed that you're not an informed person. It's best you don't vote, probably.
Gee, what part did you infer that from? I thought the above illustrated I was very informed; albeit not very funny.
You read Obama's book? You read John McCain's?
I'd guess likely yes to the first, perhaps no to the second. Your above comments infers that you seem to look w/ only one eye ... open to one side, blind to the other ... and that you wouldn't give a Republican's book the light of day.
There's a lopsided view of politic ... a "if you're not with us, you're against us" polarization that is the pervasive root problem in Washington these days.
It's all about whose side you're on? No handshake across the aisle to solve our deep problems? Take no prisoners? When it's all about who is the "enemy" ... Gee, that sounds a LOT like GWB speaking ... and that's been a proven method as to how to NOT get things accomplished. In fact, Obama's message is exactly the opposite ... Ironic, huh?
Anyways, I've read both of the above publications so, yes ... I'm pretty informed. If you've read both, good for you.
My political comments (letters) have been published in major city newspapers across the northeastern U.S. ... the Boston Globe, Portland Press Herald, Hartford Courant ... many, many times ... actually, every time I send them one. I'm a fairly frequent contributor. There's a lot to comment on, and the editors seem to like what I've got to say.
One cannot know anyone from comments on a bbs. It's too shallow a medium to garner sustantial information from. To believe so would be silly ... which is why I'll also politely ignore your advice.
Don't vote? Good message there. (pssst: I'd suggest NOT going for that local registrar of voters position!) :-D
btw ... for illustration of my four scenarios above (Dem vs Pub in which pillar), look to the recent past (this is off the top of my head here):
Carter: Dem Prez/Dem Congress (1 term)
Reagan: Dem Congress/Pub prez (2 terms)
Bush: Dem Congress/Pub prez (1 term)
Clinton: Pub Congress/Dem prez (2 terms)
GWB1: Pub Congress/Pub prez
GWB2: Dem Congress/Pub prez
In a curious reversal of ideology, particularly w/ Republican Presidents ... fiscal management of this country (a.k.a. buying on the credit card) ... is worst in three out of the four scenarios above. GWB's years have been particularly bad ... but Reagan comes in a close second.
Only in one scenario above (Pub Congress/Dem prez), was the budget actually significantly paid down. Only one president, with the help of a frugal Congress, lived w/in the means of the nation ... prompting Alan Greenspan to comment, "I thought Bill Clinton was the best Republican president we've had in a while" (09/17/2007)
Go figure ...

What, you're in favor of the way business is done now in Washington? Replace it with foreigners? You're obviously reading those hillbilly blogs or something.
If not, why is he so soft on immigration?
He wants to enforce the borders, that's more than is being done now, really.

I make no claim to fame … yet, I’m consistently published.
You, OTOH, have not. You publish personal fanatical rants on a little corner of the net, and every time someone challenges your idioms, here’s what you consistently call them:
Nazi
Racist
And you’ve used the terms so completely out of context; it’s obvious you call people these names w/o a clue as to their actual meaning. You just seem to think you know.
You’re about the worst spokesman for Obama … who would cringe at your tactics … hell, he refuses play the race card, yet you scream it at the top of your lungs over the smallest slight; and you're not even black. That's a bit disingenuine, isn't it?
And then you throw in "Nazi" too … just as an added bonus.
You should be ashamed. You're a disgrace to Obama's campaign. You do him no service. You're the fanatic that calls in the middle of the night looking for votes. He refuses to do what you immediately resort to. You go to ground and crawl under the rock immediately, resorting to extreme name calling.
You're Hillary.
Yet, despite you, I'm voting for Obama anyways.
You’ve a brain, it’s just angrily warped and you've a deplorable lack of a sense of humor.
Yawn … done.

They publish letters that entertain their readers, often the most ignorant ones.
You're the one that started with the extermination talk, genius, when all I did was say if you don't vote for Obama it's inexcusable. I'm allowed to feel that way. It had nothing to do with censoring anyone else's views. Extermination is not a humor topic, if you want to come back and cry that you were joking, get some wit.

They publish letters that entertain their readers, often the most ignorant ones.
You've no idea what I've written or what you speak of, yet you assume and infer my letters of being of the ignorant variety printed?
Did you know that making presumptive accusations about what or whom you know nothing about is the definition of ignorance?:
Source: Merriam-Webster
Main Entry: ig·no·rant
Pronunciation: \'ig-n(?-)r?nt\
Function: adjective
Date: 14th century
1 a: destitute of knowledge or education ; also : lacking knowledge or comprehension of the thing specified (ding ding ding ding!!!!)
So ... who just made an ignorant statement?
You're the one that started with the extermination talk, genius, when all I did was say if you don't vote for Obama it's inexcusable. I'm allowed to feel that way. It had nothing to do with censoring anyone else's views. Extermination is not a humor topic, if you want to come back and cry that you were joking, get some wit.
I understand. It's hard for those born w/o a funny bone to "get" humor. I'll have Wikipedia explain it:
"Black comedy, also known as black humour or dark comedy, is a sub-genre of comedy and satire where topics and events that are usually treated as taboo or seriously (such as death, war, hostilities, rape, murder, substance abuse, domestic violence, etc.) are treated in a humorous or satirical manner. Synonyms include dark humour and morbid humour. Although very similar, it is not to be confused with gallows humour and off-colour humour."
Source link: Black Comedy
Read up ... there's a whole section on humor. Study in the hope maybe someday you'll figure it out. Like I really meant "let's exterminate everyone"... (humor hint: It's dark usage of one absurd extreme statement against another to illuminate the absurdity: and yes, saying people voting for someone else is "inexcusable" is an extreme, absurd statement to the non-zealous, irregardless of your personal feelings on the matter.)
Jeez Louise ...
All I did was give you a taste of your own medicine. Tutns out you can dish it out but you can't take it.
Turns out, you're humor blind ... like some people are color blind. (Now don't go calling "color blind" a racist statement, just cause I said "color").
You didn't dish anything out, you just started hurling extremist insults over perceived slights, because you can't "see" humor. Mud slinging (calling people racist and/or nazi) isn't dishing anything out. It's petulant. knee jerk behavior.
I can "take" it. I'm not upset in the least. I find it funny and amusing. I'd have to care to be offended.
If you're going to stump for Obama, you're going to have to develop a thicker skin. As is, your behavior is the antithesis of the reasoned, well balanced, non-insulting, anti-mud slinging approach that is the hallmark of his campaign.
Larree ... he's all yours ...

"You proved my point."
That's so commonly what people say when they come up empty.
Nothing explaining how said point was proved ... No reasoned logic or rebuttal, just "SO THERE, BECAUSE I SAY SO"!!
Still nothing but insults and jabs to offer in reply? C'mon ... that's just lazy thinking ... you can do better.
And readers will see ignorance for themselves ... don't presume otherwise because ... (see definitions above). Remember, just cause you say so doesn't make it so.
