Don't read this if you don't want to see an angry rant.
I am repulsed by everything having to do with the McCain campaign. It angers me when a candidate for the most important position in the world gears their entire rhetoric towards really stupid people. Every single day it's more utter idiocy. Who got into John McCain's head and convinced him that idiotic distortions work? Almost every one of their talking points for months have been manipulative half-truths. It's really sad. I almost started feeling sorry for Sarah Palin as a few times this week she stepped outside the inanity that she's been told to spread. McCain is responsible. He's done things and even utilized the same people that he slammed hard in 2000. I've never seen any candidate for president stoop so low in such an obvious insincere manner. I hope history holds him responsible and doesn't continue to treat him like a respectable man because he isn't that anymore.
If you try to tell me both parties do the same, you're full of crap. Point blank. Get an education, please. Obama's campaign has been honorable, angelic in comparision to the liefest from the other side.
Also Fox News should be taken off the air. Hannity is a despicable monster. Don't try to tell me MSNBC is the same in any way. They have their opinions, but they actually look for factual occurances to discuss. I saw part of a Fox News special the other night about Democratic extremists that was just so absurd. They are a total embarrassment. The fact that so many watch them as often as they do tells us that there are a lot of dumbasses in the US.
Luckily the somewhat intelligent outnumber the bigoted sheep morons so the times, they will be a changin'.

Here's some STL facts:
Obama - speaks to 100,000 people in front of the STL arch. Accessible to the amazing melting pot of the people. reachable. real.
McCain - shows up in NewTown, MO in "front of about 3,000 supporters packing an outdoor amphitheater at New Town in St. Charles". About as unaccessible and unreal as it gets. Basically, you come to a so-called swing state and don't get anywhere near the people. This is New Town www.newtownatstcharles.com/
yikes.

Sorry Holo, I expected better from the subject line.
I was hoping for some real foam-at- the-mouth, bloody lipped, drooling, hyperventilating vitriol...
Come one now, I know you can do better...

i'm repulsed by your love of someone you don't even know.
people were in love with Hitler too.
the media? you're freakin' kidding me, aren't you? cripes, a story on a candidate's wife, not the candidate himself; all about being addicted to pre_ion drugs. what a fuckin' joke that is. half the freakin' country is hooked on something and usually worse than that.
it amazes me that they go to lengths to dig that up, but the prophetic Obama admits to using coke, or whatever, and its completely ignored. geesh, was he selling it too? the mediaidiots that can't even spell right most of the time anyway and they profess to be writers and reporters. guess they took lessons from Biden. shit he can't even count - - 3 little letters, he said. then spelled it out J O B S.
its ignored but to this day they still talk about the VP (CRS, his name eludes me right now) that wanted to spell potato with an e. yep the intelligent outnumber the morons afterall.
there's no honor in politics. none whatsoever. and if you think Obama is your saving grace, i feel sorry for you. NOBODY is going to balance the budget. NOBODY is going to go after all the vastly rich CEO's that took the money and escaped to wherever. NOBODY is going to lower health costs and if its national healthcare, God save us. oh the horror!
NOBODY for President. Now that's the spirit.
dang it, fell off the wagon again

Ain't nuthin' new under the sun ... pretty much same 'ol, same 'ol as I've seen over the course of years.
The Republicans should reign in the hate rhetoric though ... it's dangerous.
We'll all be fine ... no matter who gets elected.
I really wish McCain had gone w/ Romney instead ... but the far right just couldn't stomach a Mormon, I'll bet ... so he went w/ Palin ... probably his biggest mistake; even if it stoked a moment's flame.
He couldn't be taken as a serious contender from that moment forward.
It's like taking Britney Spears as a V.P.
Sure, there's a TON of coverage, and tongues would wag incessantly ... LOTS of media ... lots of flash.
No substance.
And that became John McCain's problem ... only a minority can stomach a vote for her. Thinking Republicans go: WTF??? (a la Colin Powell)
Point at foot ... aim and ...
The other guy wins.

Good point LD ... but in my experience ... watch the results ...
Look for the number 55/45 ...
It's weird how odd that percentage turns up in the people who make the right decision versus those that don't ... almost mystic in a law of large numbers sort of way.
Observations ...
But you're right, we'll see on the 5th.

Squrly, why on earth do you bring the name Adolf Hitler into this discussion? That's ridiculous. I could lambaste you for that but I think you know better.
Don't underestimate what a brilliant person can do as president, just because Bush was the worst president in history and McCain would be even worse.
You think it's relevant that Obama did coke in his teens, of course not. The same New York Times did a story on Ayers a few weeks ago that was actually brought about by the McCain campaign. However this is your own candidates McCain and Palin lying daily about Obama and his policies.
No one in their right mind could equate the 2 campaigns.

I simply worry about people who look at any potential leader with such adulation as you have bestowed on Obama here in your posts. No man/woman, is worthy of that kind of blind devotion. You admitted you were young or this was your first election or something. Hitler, admittedly a drastic reference perhaps, but people worshipped him, adored and loved him, flocking to hear him speak; only to have been fooled. And I'm not drawing a comparison between the two. No way!
Just remember too, that it was those same feelings that led people to follow Jim Jones; and any number of other charismatic individuals. Their rhetoric is fabulous but actions were deceitful.
You know that saying...don't put all your eggs in one basket. And the other one...trust no one.
"Electile Dysfunction", the words of today.
Enjoy your voting rights, Holo. It is one of our greatest freedoms and I do respect your vote. I cannot condemn how you cast your vote, nor would I want to. That would degrade my beliefs.

Holo,
We've had our little disagreements in the past, but I've to back Glenn (Lars Mars) here...this is not up to your usual stuff. I'm going to attribute this to near exhaustion, as this has been a long and painful campaign season.
However, if you catch your breath and re-energize, let's have a little more juice on the Republican hate-mongering, scare-the-masses, Obama-is-the-devil-reincarnate thing they're doing. This is the real issue now. This makes the Lyndon Johnson "Daisy Girl" ad look like a lovefest! I can't remember a time when the main tactic was pure evil and hate-mongering.
As I said, I don't always agree with your style, but these guys (Republicans) need to be held accountable for actively trying to devide the country with falsehoods and hate.
THis is the worst campaign in the modern era (post WWII)
Kurt

First off Squrly I have never claimed Obama to be perfect or a messiah, I simply think he's the most intelligent candidate I've seen in years. You might recall I was not that happy with him for not making more of a fuss about the bill that immunized the telecom companies from lawsuits for their spying.
Jim Jones as an example is nearly as bad as Hitler. You seem very negative towards Obama even though you're not saying so.
I've watched these candidates closely for over a year now, it's hardly blind faith at this point. I tend to think McCain backers are far more guilty of that, they seem to feel cause he was held prisoner, that he's smart enough to run the country. Much of the Republican base was speaking so lovingly of Palin a week after they ever heard her name for the first time. I actually began this campaign thinking I would probably vote for Hillary.

Cult of personality interpreted..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cult_of_personality
"A cult of personality or personality cult arises when a country's leader uses mass media to create a heroic public image through unquestioning flattery and praise. Cults of personality are often found in dictatorships.
A cult of personality is similar to general hero worship except that it is created specifically for political leaders. However, the term may be applied by analogy to refer to adulation of religious or non-political leaders."
