McCain campaign worker admits to making up the story of getting mugged and a B carved in her face for having McCain bumper sticker.
from Politico.com
Pittsburgh station KDKA reports that Ashley Todd, the 20-year-old McCain volunteer who claims to have been mugged by a black man and had a "B" carved in her face, today admitted to fabricating the attack.
In short: It's like a political version of the Susan Smith or Charles Stuart stories
Drudge gave big play to the incident, and both McCain and Palin called the girl's family. Obama's campaign issued a statement expressing concern and calling for a prosecution of the assailant.
Police sources tell KDKA that a campaign worker has now confessed to making up a story that a mugger attacked her and cut the letter "B" in her face after seeing her McCain bumper sticker.
Ashley Todd, 20, of Texas, initially told police that she was robbed at an ATM in Bloomfield and that the suspect became enraged and started beating her after seeing her GOP sticker on her car.
Police investigating the alleged attack, however, began to notice some inconsistencies in her story and administered a polygraph test.
Authorities, however, declined to release the results of that test.
Investigators did say that they received photos from the ATM machine and "the photographs were verified as not being the victim making the transaction."
This afternoon, a Pittsburgh police commander told KDKA Investigator Marty Griffin that Todd confessed to making up the story.
The commander added that Todd will face charges; but police have not commented on what those charges will be.

Larree do you still think McCain will win?
"At intrade.com this morning, 10 shares of Obama-to-win were going for $86 and 10 shares of McCain were going for $14. If you think McCain is going to win, an investment of $14,000 in McCain stock now will yield $100,000 in two weeks"

I didn't believe it from the beginning either after having seen so many self-inflicted hate crime hoaxes over the years. Either she is the emotionally unstable person she appears to be or is it another stunt to hurt the McCain campaign. From the looks of her I would first assume she's a troubled young woman but don't be surprised if there's more to this story than you've heard so far.

A stunt to hurt the McCain campaign?? It was a McCain campaign worker that made it up to try and hurt the Obama campaign.
Not that a lot of negative strategies haven't been pursued to try and win by both campaigns, but this one is clearly from a fanatic McCain supporter not an Obama supporter.

That might be what most would normally think but the smearing attempts at McCain and especially Sarah Palin were not effectively addressed in the final debate when there was ample opportunity to do so. When Obama specifically addressed this issue in regards to Sarah Palin rallies and McCain completely missed the opportunity to correctly state that Secret Service had heard none of comments the press was attributing to Palin supporters nor was there any audio that could support his charge. (And the practice of "planting" those who will make hostile comments to smear an innocent candidate is no secret, especially to the media.)
And her entire story still isn't known and other people will be interviewed in regards to this story that young lady made up. The leftists have pretty much a monopoly on these type of shenanigans occurring which makes you wonder whay any conservative would try the same type of stunt.
And this girl lives in Pittsburgh but has no immediate family living in the area. And she still can't say how that mark got on her face though someone either did it or helped her do it to herself. And facebook and myspace pages for this person indicate a type of person who would not typically support John McCain.
Chance are this is an unstable person again who did something very stupid but if this stunt does in fact harm the McCain-Palin ticket just remember the phrase.. "There are no mistakes in politics.."

And the following will make everyone question their thought on this subject..
http://foxforum.blogs.foxnews.com/2008/10/23/jmoody_1023/
"It had to happen.
Less than two weeks before we vote for a new president, a white woman says a black man attacked her, then scarred her face, and says there was a political motive for it.
Ashley Todd, a 20-year-old white volunteer for John McCain’s presidential campaign, says she was mugged at an ATM machine in Pittsburgh (my hometown) by a big black man. She further says he threw her down, then disfigured her by carving the letter “B” into her face with a sharp implement when he saw that she supported McCain, not Barack Obama.
Part of the appeal of, and the unspoken tension behind, Senator Obama’s campaign is his transformational status as the first African-American to win a major party’s presidential nomination.
That does not mean that he has erased the mutual distrust between black and white Americans, and this incident could become a watershed event in the 11 days before the election.
If Ms. Todd’s allegations are proven accurate, some voters may revisit their support for Senator Obama, not because they are racists (with due respect to Rep. John Murtha), but because they suddenly feel they do not know enough about the Democratic nominee.
If the incident turns out to be a hoax, Senator McCain’s quest for the presidency is over, forever linked to race-baiting.
For Pittsburgh, a city that has done so much to shape American history over the centuries, another moment of truth is at hand."
Again..., there are no mistakes in politics..

We'll see how far the mainstream media takes this for a ride though and see what you hero and fellow whackjob Keith Olbermann & co does with it. If it's used just as the countless lies, traps, set-up & plants in the past have been used to damage McCain-Palin then I would say it's a pretty safe bet this girl, (or her doctor..) knew exactly what they were doing..

Obama's campaign doesn't need dramas like this, they're already poised for a landslide. Besides, McCain and Palin make asses out of themselves every day of the week with a new strategy of untruths, they don't need the help either.
You hate Olbermann because he's right.

No it didn't happen, the girl made it up, has admitted making up the story, is unapologetic and still doesn't know how the mark got on her face. The police are still holding her out of concern for her safety and it might be a good idea to find out if she's been under the influence of medications and learn every detail of her recent medical history, sometimes that can factor in cases like this. The girl is definitely not right and it's important to find out exactly why she did what she did because at the moment she has no idea of the gravity of her actions. So it is not beyond reason that there may be a second party involved that led her to do what she did.., hopefully those details will come forward soon.

First off taxes aren't going to be raised that substantially for small businesses over the 250,000 line. Secondly every tax plan including Bush/McCain technically spreads the wealth. Thirdly the tax cuts have nothing to do with people who aren't working so it's not about welfare. Stop sucking up the propaganda, you Moonie.

your figures don't work .... in the first place we are not talking about net earnings ... business have tremendous write offs and payroll etc. etc. ...
second ... the proposed increase is a measly 3% ..
third .... A business is not a person .... and the tax is applied to the actual person or persons making over $250,000 a year not the over-all business ... (that's why it's called INCOME tax)

As someone who is a Financial Controller, and has worked for both large and small companies..I would suggest you tow the party line and stick to the talking points you understand Holo...I have no idea what real life experience you have but you are a little over your skies when it comes to matters of Business and economics...
$250,000 is not much for a small business, they need to keep whatever profit they have in the business, both to weather a weak economy, fight a competitor, or pay for increasing business expenses . Sorry Sam, Payroll is not a write off friend...and write offs are expenses, they are not freebies. The benefit is far less then the actual cost. Small businesses do not have the loop holes that big businesses have, the majority of their expenses are related to actual cash outlays.
Taxing small businesses is stupid...They drive the economy. Did you know a small business is defined as 100 employees or less??? I guarantee you, raising the tax burden will result in people losing their jobs...Make no mistake about it. I have had to be the messenger many times...
Holo before you result to your standard, predictable ad hominem insults, I am talking real world experience here...I have a resume to back up my assertions.
People who pay little or no taxes will benefit from Obama's plans... , and the middle class will be hurt.... What Obama says, is far different then what he will do. If he gets a blank check from a democratically controlled Congress, his cutoffs on who will be taxed more will be expanded.. Don't fall for his political, rhetorical Bullshit. He is saying what he needs to get elected.... He will be coming for you, hold on to your wallet. If you work for a company with less the 100 people, expect layoffs....one of them may be you.

This may put you to sleep...but it is more then three percent sam...and it will effect more then individuals, and the effect is more then 3%.
"The Obama campaign maintains that the number of small-business owners is what’s important. Economists know what matters is the tax rate that’s applied to the bulk of small-business income. Make no mistake about it: Obama’s plan to raise taxes on households making more than $250,000 will raise taxes on most small-business profits in America.
What type of tax rate are we talking about? Currently, S corporations face a top tax rate of 35 percent, while sole proprietors and general partners face a tax rate of 37.9 percent (since they’re responsible for paying both income tax and the Medicare component of the payroll tax).
"Under Obama’s plan to let the scheduled 2011 tax rate hikes occur, and his plan to raise the self-employment tax on those making more than $250,000, the S corporation rate would rise from 35 percent to 39.6 percent. The sole proprietor and partner rate would rise from 37.9 percent all the way up to a staggering 50.3 percent. Many Democrats in Congress have proposed making all small businesses (including S corporations) pay this 50-plus percent rate. A small business tax rate that high would be the highest marginal rate faced by them in nearly a quarter-century."

Sorry Jeff, we don't have to honor you as a financial expert because you say so. As Obama says, under his tax rates, people would save money the whole time til they reached the 250,000, they would get to that point faster.
This is nitpicking anyway, most artists here are not part of large small businesses.
The economy stinks, more of the same is obviously not the choice that the voters will make.

Jeff I never said Payroll was a write-off ... I said that is money they pay out from the net profits .... which depletes their tax burden ....
Look I'm no idiot ... I have successfully ran several small businesses ... and I have also worked many years for someone else ... and I have made what I would call VERY LARGE sums of money ... I have also studied finance and read anything I could devour about our great nation ...
You want an education ? ... might I suggest reading Henry Fords four books ...
The man had it going on ... he understood that to sell cars, people had to make money to buy them ... He did everything in his power to lift the small guy up ... he loved giving to worthy causes ... he loved seeing others succeed ... He realized that giving the small guy a break was in his best interest in the end ... His idea of business was to give the public a product that enhanced their lives ..
Now corporations pay lawyers millions of dollars to find loopholes to keep from paying their fair share ... they also pay them to fight their own employees over wages and benefits ... they take their jobs overseas ... they don't give a damn about the people ... they don't give a damn about their product ... they only care about the bottom line ... CEO's take millions of dollars in compensation for running companies into the ground ... What business school doesn't teach you is the models they use only work when they are applied to people like Henry Ford ... The thinkers and well wishers .. not the greedy bastards up there now ...
Greenspan just admitted that you can't trust those in business to watch out over their investors any longer ....
My last point is I have never taken a hand-out in my life and have given both my time and thousands of dollars to charity ...
It's time for a revolution ... It's time to start caring about the over-all picture and not your pocket books

Sam, I already covered the "Loop hole" argument as I anticipated it. I did not call you an idiot, you are no doubt a smart man...
I agree big business really ruined the economy..Its criminal in my book. A flat out blind, idiotic, immoral act has been perpetrated. Alot of people have blood on their hands.....I have nothing to argue with you about that.
I am talking about small business, and please define what looking out for the small guy means...How is that defined?? Who are these people?? Have I been cut out because I make over some threshold of Money defined by some career politician??? Does hard work count for anything? A lot of so called "Rich" people work their ass off. Small business owners routinely put in 60 hours a week.
Where is the incentive to work harder if each additional dollar will be taxed at a higher rate? Its bullshit....
Of course the overall picture is important, who the hell said otherwise? As for the pocketbook? well no one is paying my Bills but me, excuse me for being a little concerned. The economy is fucked up, taxing small business is stupid...Idiotic in fact. Sam, Its not us versus them...I am not talking Politics here, I am talking cold hard Business sense. I believe Obama is going to win, I am just putting my opinion out there. I respect your real world experience, I am sure you respect mine as well.
I will leave you with your quote "The man had it going on ... he understood that to sell cars, people had to make money to buy them " please add.."KEEP" after the word "MAKE" :)

If you want to lift the economy up give the tax breaks to the middle class ... they will in turn spend that money right back into the economy ... which will create jobs ... not deplete them ...
Small business, ran without greed will flourish ... so taxing them more is not a burden but a bonus ...

Man, you're such a SWELL FELLOW, you must belong to the TRUE CITIZEN party, because you're channeling RUDOPLH THE RED NOSED REINDEER.
Oh, yeah? Well you're a FRENCH FRYing idiot!!!!
See? Idiot works in that context.

You're the one who needs a life bad enough to make up this name today and come on and announce you were going to attack me. You're the one who needs a life enough to post this as your profile
I live for…
Laughing at Obamites bending over to receive the sunshine he blows up their ass
in 10 years I'll be
Way ahead of the Abamanations who suck up Obama's propaganda
in 10 minutes I'll be
Way ahead of the Abamanations who suck up Obama's propaganda
experience of high strangeness
Realizing there are those who actually believe Obama's fairytales
most overrated
Michelle Obama
my advice to you
Run, don't walk, to your nearest cult deprogramming center Holo
You even include my name in your profile, troll. Which proves you only came on this site (or rather started this alterego) to attack me, hater girl.
and no I don't think you're Diane. And I know who you are cause I saw you come on at the exact time as your artist name did on the action pages. Course if I said who, you'd deny it. But that really doesn't matter.
What does matter is that you're idiotic enough to think you could sue me for slander when you come onto a site under the name Blowing Some Sunshine Up Your Ass.

Um ... since no one knows who you are, BSUYA ... and no one knows who Holo is ... and this is the internet ...
I'm curious ...
How does "Anonymous v. Anonymous" with no damages to fictional pseudonyms work in reality?
Do threats of lawsuit in context seem a little silly, perhaps uniquely toothless, on a website?
What purpose is served by it?
Hope you had a nice time with your husband.

In this case it didn't even take paranoia or alertness. Immediately upon this new character introducing herself, I thought, that has to be ____ _____. (Notice I knew it twas a female before any indication was available.) Then I looked up and the same was not only on action pages but posting at the present. Then I looked at new character's page and saw another obvious link. It didn't take a genius.

Only you can be anonymous.
You have real control issues bud. And fear. (obviously, with the desperate anonymity you crave).
But only YOU though. Gotta know who everyone else is.

rest assured, i am not sunny.

I don't think my blogs are outrageous considering a majority of the country is voting for Obama. I also don't think I'm trying to make anyone believe I'm a genuine skeptic, that's silly.
The fact is you created your page just to attack me, you showed up attacking me, just like your hero McCain who has no new ideas so all he does is attack Obama. You are a clone of him only he's actually smarter than you which doesn't say much for you.
Wear that, clown.

I think one of the reasons the markets continue to drop is fear of an Obama presidency, he'll definitely scare much needed investment capitol out of the country and and harm small businesses that from my last recollection employ up to 80% of the people in this country..
Hopefully with our system of checks and balances will prevent him from realizing his wealth redistribution schemes. If he really wants to help the poorest what's needed are what Ronald Reagan proposed in 1980, enterprise zones that give tax incentives for businesses to locate where they are needed most, that's just one way to truly distribute wealth fairly.
Sarah Palin put best in a statemet earlier today..
"You understand that his plan to redistribute wealth will, ultimately, punish hard work, and it discourages productivity, and it will stifle the entrepreneurial spirit that made this country the greatest country on earth." (Which in turn harms everyone..)

lol ...
I'll take a little "feisty" on that order please ...
:^D
It's unsettling to have anyone label Fox or MSNBC as "balanced reporting" ... but the disturbing part is that those that subscribe to either channel don't seem to as aware of the bias as they should.
Of course neither is balanced, but just because both of them offer slants that pander to one side or the other, the stations themselves could probably care less about which side is what.
At core, both are simply feeding their opposite market base to sell more Clorox.
... and just because they espouse things that fan the flames of divisiveness ... causing both sides to smack their foreheads and exclaim:
"FINALLY SOMEONE GETS IT!!!"
... neither can claim balance.
The only thing both can claim together ... w/o slant or bias is:
"Mama's got the magic of Clorox 2!"

Oh now she'll put you on a station so you don't debate with her, how weak.
You weren't on the other end of that phone call, troll. Obviously the Secret Service isn't going to do a full investigation on something totally without merit.
Kevin it's absurd to put MSNBC and Fox in the same breath. MSNBC actually reports facts. Fox has broadcast a wacko documentary about Obama's Radicalism many times.

I will allow that MSNBC is worried that they may crossed a center line and in fact have reported their own dissatisfaction with themselves accordingly ...
For instance ...
... but, as self checking as that might be, it shows that even they admit wandering left to themselves.
Fox possesses absolutely no such worries about self analysis whatsoever, but in doing so ... goes so over the top, that I find everything they say to be immensely amusing ... akin to watching the dancing bear in a tutu ...
Fascinating, yet really cannot be taken seriously ... for ...
... because of lack of self examination, nary even a glimmer of self questioning ... they diminish their status as a truly credible news conduit ... which is sad, because they are a needed balance for the conservative voice in an news industry that occasionally comes across as a liberal shout down.
Best,
Kev-

Hey Sunny--thanks for the compliment! And pay Holo no mind, he doesn't have a clue anyway. He thinks MSNBC is fair. The only really fair one I've seen was the news woman out of Florida interviewing Biden! What an idiot. And the New York Times is way out of line. FOX is fair.

"The woman said NOTHING of the kind she was accused of",
You have no idea what that woman really said. Just that you would use that as an argument shows what a lost pup you are.
"and Lukaloa's flippant, ignorant, false accusatory statement towards me was unacceptable. Threats and accusations of any such kind will not be tolerated. ISP's can be subpoened when people libel/slander, it's been done before."
Genius, there's no way to prove damages when you're using a name created for trolling. No court except a clown court is going to take a case where "Blowing Some Sunshine Up Your Ass"'s reputation has been damaged. How can you not understand that? I never thought I'd see somebody here who made Sterling30 look smart in comparison, you take the cake.

It's always wise to ask:
"What motivates?"
The answer, in all advertising driven media: Patronage = revenue.
Rupert Murdoch is Australian, and is likely only to some light degree concerned with who becomes President ...
Totally detached from U.S. politics, but absolutely recognizes a paying audience when he sees one.
They're all the same, and Fox cannot be faulted for how they compete.
Like you said, though ... a little more balance would lend more credibility.
As my parents warned with EVERYTHING coming over the tube:
"Don't believe anything you see ... the eyes best fool the brain"
And in the wise words of RR ...
"Trust, but verify."
These are hard times getting harder.
We're going to have to pull together no matter who becomes president.
We can do it. We're Americans. We're not so polar as the media would sell us.
Best,
Kev-
