David Bowie
Bowie is my ultimate favorite. His streak of great singles could be the best ever, Space Oddity, Changes, Ziggy and the Spiders, Rebel Rebel, Suffragette City, Fame, Golden Years. Even the times when he wasn't putting out what you'd call commercial music, those are some of my favorite records. I sat in the front row for 3 Bowie concerts and the man is a legend.

I try not to let myself fall for hero worshiping, but it is hard to avoid when it comes to Bowie. Back in the time of Ziggy I was listening to hard rock and prog and I thought Bowie was a girlie lightweight. What a weirdo! Then I heard the David Live album and Width of a Circle made me change my mind. Nothing lightweight about that! Everything he did in the '70's was brilliant. He lost me in the '80's but his recent Reality album is a great comeback for us '70's fans. He can still write, sing, and still has good hair!

Who can forget the 'Glass Spider' tour? Well personally, I'm still trying to!!!. Still I did see the farewell Ziggy gig and that was great. The thing is, he endures and still continues to innovate, so I guess I can forgive some of the '80's excess...........

Live at the Tower Theater is one of my favorite live records (might be a good topic).

Did ya'll know Lennon co-wrote Fame ?

Responding to FT - If I remember right didn't Lennon also contribute some guitar on Fame? Don't know which one, I think there's a lot of interlocking guitar parts.

His recent outing with Arcade Fire is well worth a listen - cracking good versions of 'Life on Mars', 'Five Years' and one of AF songs - it's on iTunes, look under AF.

I read somewhere that, like quite a few artists, Bowie's albums alternate between one for the record company and one for himself... but anyway, my personal Bowie faves have to be Hunky Dory, Station to Station and Low - but he has released so much great music!

David Bowie ROCKS!!!
Not surprisingly, one of my favourite Bowie songs is 'Cat People' but, perhaps a little surprisingly, NOT because of it's title!! It really is a brilliant track. :-)
A friend of my ex's owns the Stylophone used on 'Space Oddity' too.

Oh yes - the Stylophone! I remember seeing an old ad for it featuring David - and here it is!

We got a stylophone somewhere around - if you slap some distortion on it and put it thru a big p.a. you can really freak people out at gigs :)
