Obama pushes lobbyists off Federal Advisory Boards
Obama Pushes Lobbyists Off Federal Advisory Boards
First Posted: 11-27-09 09:26 AM | Updated: 11-27-09 09:47 AM
In a little-noticed blog post published on the White House website in September, President Obama's special counsel for ethics and government reform Norm Eisen announced that the administration no longer wanted federally-registered lobbyists appointed to agency advisory boards and commissions.
These appointees to boards and commissions, which are made by agencies and not the President, advise the federal government on a variety of policy areas. Keeping these advisory boards free of individuals who currently are registered federal lobbyists represents a dramatic change in the way business is done in Washington.
As has been reported, the President has made a commitment to close the revolving door that has in the past allowed lobbyists and others to move to and from full-time federal government service. In furtherance of this commitment, the President issued Executive Order 13490, which bars anyone appointed by the President who has been a federally-registered lobbyist within the past two years from working on particular matters or in the specific areas in which they lobbied or from serving in agencies they had lobbied. The aspiration we are announcing today builds on this commitment. While the letter of the President's Executive Order on Ethics does not apply to federally-registered lobbyists appointed by agency or department heads, the spirit does and we have conveyed that to the agencies who are responsible for these appointments.
On Friday, the Washington Post reported that the move "may turn out to be the most far-reaching lobbying rule change so far from President Obama," resulting in "hundreds, if not thousands, of lobbyists" being ejected from federal advisory panels.
Not surprisingly, lobby groups, corporations, and other K Street influencers are up in arms.
The reaction from the lobbying community has been swift and overwhelmingly negative. Some of the loudest criticism has come from the Industry Trade Advisory Committees (ITACs), a collection of more than a dozen panels that provide policy advice and technical assistance to the Commerce Department and the U.S. Trade Representative. The ITACs, whose roughly 400 members include at least 130 lobbyists, officials say, have taken the lead in attacking the White House policy as misguided and harmful to U.S. business interests; a letter to Obama from committee chairs last month included executives from Boeing, IBM, Harley-Davidson and International Paper.
"This action will severely undermine the utility of the advisory committee process," the letter read. ". . . The characteristics that make many Advisors valuable to the Administration [are] the same characteristics that are being used to artificially disqualify them from participation in the Committee system."

Hooray for our president! Lobbyists are the lowest form of life in Washington, and are a blight on our system. I wish they had no say whatsoever. They only serve the interests of people who value wealth over humanity.

Now how did I know my post would incur such responses?!! ;-)
Larree,
I mean no disrespect to those who love their country. I love my country too. I do not, however, trust ANY of the government puppets placed in power worldwide by the hidden hand and therefore, cannot respect them. On that score, I FULLY support your stand on 'Nobody for President'.
I DO pray that their eyes be opened though.... but I do not expect many to understand the principle and power of prayer. Unless you have met someone and taken the time / made the effort to get to know them, you cannot really know them.
I respect the right of all people to voice their opinions and all I ask is that others respect my right to voice mine. We will each deal with the consequences of our actions and decisions, whether creative or destructive, at the appropriate time.

All I am saying is that I believe Obama himself is mislead and misguided by those in power. The very same ones who placed Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Bush, Rudd (Aus PM), Howard (former Aus PM), Blair, Brown, Nixon, Kennedy, etc etc in power. The same ones who 'removed' Diana from the Royal Family.
My statement on prayer is that their eyes be opened so that they can see the truth and repent, even if that means they are removed from power as many believe may have been the case with JFK and others who tried to go against the elitist agenda.
....and no, I do not believe the 'elite' are a certain race of people. I am not racist and do not present any of the above as a slur against black, white, German, British, Jewish or any race. I love all people.... yes, even those who might find reason to consider me a religious bigot or end times nut-case (not saying you think that Larree...... at least I hope you don't!!!!) :-D
My faith is non denominational and I do not belong to any church group or man made religious organisation.

It needed to be done.
Still, until the impact of money in the electoral process is diminished as well, the buying of government for special interests continues.

Anti Semitic Bluto? I don't know where you got that idea. I'm a Christian and I believe that the Jewish community will realise that their messiah has already been here once and they didn't recognise Him.
In fact, many of them are now awakening to this, just as Jesus said they would before His return...... oh, and Jesus Christ Himself was a Jew! Far be it from me, a Christian, to be against my Saviour!!
I'm also researching the possibility that I am a member of the lost tribe of Ephraim. Regardless of the outcome of my research, I am grafted into the Jewish tree anyway, and to then be anti semitic would be totally hypocritical!! Actually, it would be eternally destructive!
I'm not perfect and I see through a glass darkly (as we all do) but I most certainly do not hate Jews!! Nor do I hate Germans, or anyone else (as previously mentioned). I most certainly DO despise the ACTIONS of the Nazi's during the height of their war crimes though.
Of course, you are free to voice your opinion and I will not despise you for that, even if I disagree with you. Even Jesus Himself didn't force anyone to believe Him or follow Him. If it is good enough for Him, it is certainly good enough for one of His servants!!!
He did speak of the consequences of rejecting Him though and He calls His faithful to do the same even if we are hated, or even killed, just as He was.
I'm totally unfussed by what others think of my faith. Many will see faithful Christians in a bad light and I am not only expecting it, but am experiencing it daily.
Even many who call themselves Christian will turn away from their faith and turn against the remnant of Christ and if that be so, then naturally unbelievers will be even more likely to do so!
For the record, make it known that I would rather hug my enemies than strap a bomb to my waist and blow them up!!! It would be better for me, infinitely better in fact, to be burned alive than to be responsible for the murder of even one soul. I'm a devoted Christian, not a terrorist!
Love thine enemy..... not kill those who disagree with me!
/end sermon :-)

You're an idiot. You talk about loving your enemies but you post a despicable hate poster of Obama. You don't know whether you're coming or going. People like you are the reason people detest religious zealots, you have more hate in you than 20 atheists.

Just for you Bluto, since you mentioned me being a lump of clay...
Isaiah 45:8-9
Drop down from above, O heavens; and let the clouds pour down righteousness. Let the earth open and let salvation bear fruit; and let righteousness spring up together. I, Yahweh have created it.
Woe to him who fights with the One who formed him! A potsherd among the potsherds of the earth! Shall the clay say to its former, What are you making? Or does your work say, He has no hands?
In reply to your quote, "What, you expect people to forget that anti-Jewish hate propaganda treatise you posted here earlier in the year?", perhaps you did not read the discussion and amicable outcome many of us had on my blog HERE
The images I posted above are to wake people up... and I pray that Obama himself will wake up too!!! I DO NOT hate Obama!! He is being used by those who groomed him and put him there..... and they are being used too but they don't realise that....yet! I DO despise their regime and their evil controlling agenda..... the very same agenda that put Hitler in power.
Even then, I do not hate those people, while they are still living, they can awaken, repent and be transformed and saved. What is occurring though must come to pass, just as Jesus and all His prophets said it would..... and it IS coming to pass, in the exact manner prophesied! Those who are given eyes to see and ears to hear know.
Acts 2:16-18
But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
Here's a hug for you (((bluto)))

Larree,
Perhaps a little background as to my statement about the Jews who did not recognise who Jesus is will help to allay any perceptions of anti-semitism.
The statement I made was a paraphrase of the words of Jesus Christ Himself to the Jews who were rejecting Him. Once again, I am NOT anti Jew. There are an increasing number who now do indeed accept Christ as their Saviour, just as Jesus said they would. Granted, there are not many but the numbers are increasing.
Regardless of whether or not a Jew accepts Jesus as their Lord and Saviour (Messiah), I am not against anyone. I was simply paraphrasing what Jesus said (Himself a Jew).
Here's an explanation of this by John....
John 1:10-12
He (Jesus) was in the world, and the world came into being through Him, yet the world did not know Him.
He came to His own (the Jews), and His own did not receive Him.
But as many as received Him, to them He gave authority to become children of God, to the ones believing into His name (whether Jewish or other race),
who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but were born of God.
and here's the very words of Jesus Himself (the words I was paraphrasing)....
Matthew 23:30-39
And you say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.
So you witness to yourselves that you are the sons of those who murdered the prophets.
And you fill up the measure of your fathers.
Serpents! Offspring of vipers! How shall you escape the judgment of Hell?
Because of this, behold, I send to you prophets and wise ones and scribes. And some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will flog in your synagogues and will persecute from city to city;
so that should come on you all the righteous blood poured out on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah the son of Berechiah whom you murdered between the Holy Place and the altar.
Truly I say to you, All these things will come on this generation.
Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one killing the prophets and stoning those sent to her. How often I desired to gather your children in the way a bird gathers her chicks under her wings! And you did not desire it.
Behold, "your house is left to you desolate." (Jer. 22:5)
For I say to you, In no way shall you see Me from now on, until you say, "Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord." (Psa. 118:26)
To call my paraphrasing anti-semitic would be to call Jesus Himself anti-semitic!!!
I hope this helps shed some light on my statements.

Larree,
With all due respect, I've heard that argument 1000 times and it means nothing to someone who KNOWS Jesus PERSONALLY.
Whether you believe the following or not is totally irrelevant to my faith but when I first became a Christian in November last year (2008), Jesus showed me the core of the Bible message in a dream and a vision BEFORE I had read or been shown any of it.
Here is my documentation of this dream and vision....
It was AFTER this dream and vision that I was reading the Bible and saw ALL of these things in it. There are countless other things that Jesus has shown and taught me personally since this time and I am most certainly not the only one.
Jesus is ALIVE and WELL right now and He communicates DIRECTLY with all who place their faith and trust in Him and follow Him.
As far as I am concerned, the Bible is the written Word of God, inspired directly by the Holy Spirit and is completely true and reliable. Yes, there are a number of mistakes in many translations, some considerably worse than others but that is all a moot point when the Author Himself reveals the true meaning of scripture to His faithful servants directly.
To be completely blunt, there is not a single thing, nor a single person on this planet who can change my mind about this. Call it brainwashing if you will, or call me deluded, conned, mislead, unteachable, lost, insane, closed minded, a Jesus freak, whatever... it makes no difference to me. My faith in Jesus Christ is built on the ROCK and cannot be shaken.
Honestly, I couldn't care less what the multitude of people think of me. If I speak the truth and it leads even one person to faith in Christ, then ANY mocking, scorning, ridicule or whatever, is insignificant.
1Peter 4:12-14
Beloved, do not be astonished at the fiery trial happening among you for your testing, as if a surprise were occurring to you;
but according as you share the sufferings of Christ, rejoice; so that you may rejoice exultingly at the revelation of His glory.
If you are reviled in the name of Christ, you are blessed, because "the Spirit of God and of glory rests on you." Truly, according to them, He is blasphemed; but according to you, He is glorified.

The one sowing went out to sow his seed. And in his sowing, one indeed fell beside the way, and was trampled; and the birds of the heaven ate it.
And other fell on the rock; and growing, it dried up because of not having moisture.
And other fell in the middle of the thorn bushes, and growing up with the thorn bushes, they choked it.
And other fell on the good earth, and growing it produced fruit a hundredfold. Saying these things, He cried out, The one having ears to hear, let him hear.
And His disciples questioned Him, saying, What might this parable be?
And He said, To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest in parables, that seeing they might not see, and hearing, they might not understand. Isa. 6:9
And this is the parable: The seed is the Word of God.
And those by the roadside are those who hear, then the Devil comes and takes away the Word from their heart, lest believing they may be saved.
And those on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the Word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a time, and in time of trial draw back.
And those falling in the thorn bushes, these are those hearing, but under cares and riches and pleasures of life, moving along, they are choked, and do not bear to maturity.
And those in the good ground, these are the ones who in a right and good heart, hearing the Word, they hold it and bear fruit in patience.
Luke 8:5-15

There aren't going to be many here, T (your given initial) that will be able to discuss what you're saying on this level ... but I understand the relevance.
Since you are so bright ... and I KNOW this ... understand that other bright people frame the world in different terms. It's okay that you've found peace in your faith.
It's equally okay other people have found faith in other beliefs ... and I know you know this ... for all things regarding heaven and earth are faith.
But ... here's the thing. No matter what one believes, missionary behavior isn't appropriate on these types of places.
I know you'll get that ... so post music ... and leave the rest of the shit out of it.
Best,
K-

Please don't jump to conclusions my friend... I meant absolutely nothing racial with my question about Islam. I am genuinely curious because Kevin uses a Muslim symbol for his personal symbol.
While I do not agree with many of Islam's teachings, I am not casting stones against those who are Muslim. There are multitudes who disagree with Christianity too. We are each free to follow whichever faith we choose to follow.
FWIW, I do have a copy of the Qur'an and I have studied Islam.
I also know the book of Isaiah well. It is one of my favourite OT books.
Peace my friend and God bless,
Dannii.
