CD mastering is pretty much the art of making all the tracks on your CD sound like they belong together. That means similar sound levels, usually, so no tracks sound like they are lost among the others, and it means similar sound spectra, in other words, there are not tracks that seem dull or extra bright compared to the rest of the tracks.
There is an art to this, and that is why people get paid good money to do it right. Doing it right can not only involve what I said above, but maximizing sound volume on the CD as a whole, which can involve sophisticated use of compression and EQ. So that your CD, when played with others, sounds like it belongs in the play order.
All that said, if your CD sounds like the songs deserve to be together, don't worry about it.
