I went to Grey Fox
Some videos from Grey Fox will be posted here: http://www.youtube.com/ELSOL103
Well I got to the festival this year...at the last minute I decided to go, and I'm so glad I did...I only brought my mandolin...so I was jamming till 4am on those 4 finger chop chords....LOL...I attended some workshops, and I was jamming with my NY friends and some guy took our pictures and so on Saturday night my photo appeared on the huge screen at the main stage in my purple T shirt playing my mandolin...and my other friend Mike was up there too...it was funny to see our pictures up there....
The music was great and I had a great time...we could have done without the heavy rain on Friday which was a shame...but I sat through till 12:30am in the rain in my poncho then walked back to my tent in the mud...I am fortunate to have outdoor clothing that is great in the rain, dries fast, and Teva sandals that are waterproof... Fortunately the next day the sun came out and the muddy soggy ground dried fast...I love my Eureka Sunrise 8 tent which has weathered through hurricane winds and sheets of rain at another festival and kept me pretty dry....so I was dry in this heavy rain on Friday as well.
I left Boston at 11:30pm and arrived at 4am Thursday and set up my tent in the dark...lo and behold in the morning I had camped next to some people I camped with last year!! My other friends from NY were there and was great to see them. Thursday night I jammed till 4am and got 4 hrs sleep, but on Friday I went to bed at about 2am (rain) and got 6 hours, then on Saturday night I jammed till 4am...only got 4 hrs...up early to hang with NY friends before it ended...I stayed on site late hanging with some folks and enjoying being outdoors before I drove back to Boston.
The line up was great but I especially liked Mountain Heart...and David Bromberg...as well Del McCoury...Marty Stuart...etc. But I thought Mountain Heart was the most creative, sort of melding bluegrass in with some other things....and the banjo player that has no fingers on his fretting hand never ceases to amaze me...he is awesome.
For 4 days I lived on whole wheat bagels with either peanut butter or cream cheese, bananas, fruit, canned fruit, yogurt, apples...I never even used my stove....I had no shelter but I was under their carport a lot....but didn't want to bring my stove in there...and no time anyways...I didn't even make oatmeal....but...always running from one thing to another so not much time for cooking anyways.
I love that festival...

It sounds like you had a terrific time Beth! I like the sound of the rain and the mud, it reminds me of Woodstock...I was never there of course, but it was certainly in the heart of rock musicians in the seventies...
Good on you for going to this amazing festival!!
Ciao,
Vincenzo
