Music Production
I Have recently been working with a local music producer called Brian Robinson. It is amazing what these people can do with songs....

I wrote a couple of songs a while ago called "picture of you" and "Cold and lonely", which i recorded myself. i just wasnt quite happy with them, there was something missing in the performance and production.

Then i met Brian who said would help me polish the songs to get them sounding better. Sure enough, with a little tweaking here and there and a little touch of magic he has made them sound much much better.

I think music producers are so important to musicians and bands, and until recently i didnt really apreciate how much they have an influence on the music we here every day.

We also have a song called Picture of You!!!

Maybe we could compare tracks when all is done???

Hi Tinny - indeed, a good producer can really take a song to a new level, but the point is really that you have to have the song in the first place! The old adages of polishing turds and silk purses from sows ears spring to mind :)

Another factor in producing songs is to consider where the song might fit in on an album - so, for example, the production for a song being used to open an album would, for us, be different than if that song were going to be midway through an album... a good producer can help with all of that linear aspect of a project too.

When Susan and I work on our recordings, we co-produce them all. But we absolutely insist that all of the musicians come here to our house in the middle of nowhere to record... so people come and stay for a few days or weeks, get into the vibe of the land, the trees, the hills and lakes, and that, for us, seems to make all the difference to their performances!
