We've had the 3 best albums, how about the worst 3 singles?
If you made that trip into space we discussed earlier, and took your 3 greatest ever albums, what would be the 3 songs you'd never ever want to hear again?
Again, here's mine -
Beautiful - James Blunt (I bet you saw that one coming)
Everything I do - Bryan bloody Adams
The Vengaboys - Going to Ibiza

Billy Ray Cirus - Achy Breaky Heart - Just because it is a REALLY bad song!!
Meatloaf - I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That) - Only because my sister played it to death years ago when we still lived with our parents and I am now totally sick of it!!
T Rex - Children of the revolution - Because my next door neighbours used to play it VERY loud on a crappy old stereo EVERY DAMN DAY!! They were literally deaf and had the volume up so they could FEEL it!!! Seriously!

well this is all of course personal opinion so I hope this doesn't offend anybody heh but I'd say the 3 songs I've hated the most on the radio are..
You Light Up My Life
Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree
and anything by Madonna! let's say Material Girl or Papa Don't Preach

Jeff Allen Myers

Super Puss, you're so right, although I have to differ on T-Rex, as Bolan is a legend and it's a great song. I do understand why you hate it though!
But the other two... I had to think a little about Meat Loaf too, he nearly made my top 3.
Oh and I really HATE Eurodance too. All of it. I think someone in Germany has written a new music application for it - you just add in the number of bars, where the breakdowns will come and the number of cheesy synth leads, crank a handle and a turd of a dance track plops out, ready to race up to number 41 in the charts. Ugh.

Melanie - "Brand New Key"
Yma Sumac (?) - "Loving You" (sorry, but I'm not a dog)
And anything by Meat Loaf. Good call.

I was shocked by the T-Rex inclusion too. Say it ain't so! But since it's due to ear abuse I can understand.
Having My Baby comes to mind. Was that Paul Anka?
Kokomo - Nothing against the Beach Boys but they shoulda hung it up
Rock and Roll is Good Time Music - Starship
"Rock and Roll is Good Time Music! Listen to it!" Duh.

Just letting everyone know I also think T-Rex were a great band. It has been quite some time since the aural abuse my ears copped from those neighbours so I think I am ready to start enjoying 'Children of the Revolution' again!!

Interesting picks there John! I sort of agree with the Tull and Zep tracks. They were novelty songs written by monster bands at the height of their popularity just to break into the American top 40 and grab the teenybopper demographic. Total sell-outs! But - listening to them now I appreciate them on some other level. Maybe it's just nostalgia.

I really dont wanna own up to knowing this, but the answer to Johnny R's question is 'The Pipkins'. "The Pipkins were a short-lived novelty duo best known for their hit song "Gimme Dat Ding", which reached No. 6 in 1970. They were Roger Greenaway, best known as a member of several songwriting teams as evidenced by the track listing, and Tony Burrows, singer who had fronted several groups (often simultaneously) such as Edison Lighthouse, White Plains, First Class, and Brotherhood of Man.
"Gimme Dat Ding" is a call-and-response duet between a deep, gravelly voice and a high tenor. (The voices are said to represent a piano and a metronome. The gravelly voice is also thought to be an imitation of a "dirty old man" character played on a recurring basis by comedian Arte Johnson on the old NBC-TV show "Laugh-In.") "Gimme Dat Ding" became the title song for the English children's television series Oliver in the Overworld, but would become most famous for its use (as an instrumental) in silent sketches on The Benny Hill Show throughout the 1970s and 1980s".
and no I dont own a copy - look - my Dad tole me about it, honest........no really.....

Ooh Ooh Child - The 5 Stairsteps.
I didn't even have to look it up! It was on "Do It Now" - one of those dreadful Pickwick compilation records I had when I was a kid. My favorite song on it was Sunshine Superman by Donovan. It had a skip right where he sings "Ah it never ends" so it went "Ah it never ends Ah it never ends Ah it never ends Ah it never ends". I still expect to hear it that way when I hear it.

I would like to assure all readers that none of us endorse gimme dat ding as representative of British songwriting talent in the 70's, 80's or any other period in the space/time continuum.
In fact, we heartily recommend that you avoid this particular ditty at all costs...........
