Does it sound like something else??
Hi IAC, I need a little help here...
I just uploaded a song called Look Around (Work in progress). The chorus sounds familiar to me, so if someone can tell me if I have accidentaly pinched from somewhere else I would be really grateful. It may just be a chord sequence, but you never know....
Well it's bedtime for me here, so I wan't be back here for a few hours!!!

Nothing I can think of, but then again, even if it is the same as something else, does it really matter.
The time has passed where a totally unique set of chords/melody can be written, (at least one that works).
I think the stats showed about ten years ago that every workable combination had been used at least once. Sure, you could write something with progressins and didchord so odd that it hadn't been done before-but whats the point.
If it's like something else but you wrote it without referencing the previous likeness, it's an original in my eyes.
One of the songs on my album is VERY similar to a well know rock track, but I wasn't writing it that way intentionaly, it just ended up that way, and I'm not too worried about the similarities. If it's a good song - it's a good song.

Nothing is truly original and it's best not to think about it too much - Just do it!
The only time to worry is if all your own songs sound exactly the same!

I thought it was a lovely song Vincenzo..The style reminded me of 60s Bee Gees and Mark Wirtz teenage opera but i don't think the songs a rip-off of anything i know..

Doesn't sound like anything I've heard. I like the new instrumental too. I didn't get around to adding anything to a station today but my wife and I did stream quite deeply into your station today. Listening to your music is like reaffirming a bit of goodness in the human race.

Thanks TNT, Redrobin, Steve and Terry.
Sometimes you write something and you think I may have reard it before, but you can't place it, and I really don't want to accidentally copy something that's been written before.
I agree that it is almost impossible to write a chord sequence that is unique. We might have to create an all new scale!!

Hello Vincenzo - Don't worry about it. There are millions of songs out there and only 12 notes to work with..... what are the odds of somebody writing a song with an all original melody line? Keep writing.

First of all, it's a great tune with a much-needed sentiment, these days. It didn't sound to me like any tune in particular, however it reminded me a bit of David Bowie's very first tunes. You've got a very theatrical delivery that sounds excellent.

Yes - it does have a bit of that early Bowie sound to it, but I'm not reminded of anything specific. Usually if a song is very similar to another one I've heard I'll notice it right away, unless it's my own. I won't notice it at all until someone points it out. Then I say oh crap! No wonder I like it! I'd say this one's very original, and I'm liking it!
