Tubular Bells Part II
Driving back from Boston Airport today, in the rain, on my own having dropped my folks back for a flight home. Tubular Bells Part II came on the iPod and, as I always do, I found myself rediscovering how things worked before non-destructive editing became the norm. Mike Oldfield really did produce a masterwork (I recently had similar reaction on spending some time with Autobahn by Kraftwerk).
And, there is truly some virtuoso guitar playing in there.
But I have to say...
What is that devil voice al about on TB PtII - incredibly effective but much more than just a little disturbing!!!

ps: and how cute and convoluted was that final sentence? :o)

I hate answering my own posts, but after writing this, I spent some time on Google. This is a link to live MO that was recorded for the Exposed double LP in 1979. I didn't know there was video. It's worth the watch.

Thanks for the link, Vince. I've always enjoyed Mike (and his sister, Sally), but I've never seen him play live. Classic stuff. I have to admit that it took me a few years, before I could listen to TB1 without thinking of "The Exorcist".

Thanks Vince ... I wore out the grooves on two copies of this album ... and one copy of the Kraftwerk's Autobahn album as well ... :)
