Blind Eye - New mix that I'd like your feedback on
Hi, friends - I just posted a new mix of 'Blind Eye' which is the first cut from the live Monkey68 set-up. My ears are hurting from mixing and I'm way too close to the edit to be objective anymore. So, please share your ears with me and let me know what would make the mix work better for you. It's close, but I know there's some small tweaks that'll take it over the edge!
Thanks much,
Vince (Monkey68)

These are only my opinions and and should not be looked at as criticisms. I have my own way of producing and mixing and I have my own subjective tastes when I mix someone else's song. First, I like the song. It reminds me of the Hollies. I like the vocals very much and the way the harmonies are panned hard left and right. I think the EQ and effects are just right for the vocals, The problem is they don't sit right in the mix as compared to the music. Either lower the vocals, or raise the music and you'll find the sweet spot. My choice would be to raise the music. There is too much distortion on the guitars and it doesn't serve this kind of song well. Clean up the distortion and raise the volume considerably. Get more of a clean overdrive sound by pushing the up the volume of the guitar amp but keep it on the clean setting and don't use any fuzz tone stomp boxes. (A little compression might help, too) Loud and clean guitars are best for this song. Then raise the volume of the drums. They are way too low. The bass is too loud now but it will sound right when the other instruments are louder. Check out the way I produce my songs so you'll get an idea of where I'm coming from. It's a really good song. With the right mix it will sound great.
