I am suprised you do not know this album Steve, it was a band from San Fransisco and this album was released in 1969. They were around at the same time as your favourites 'Love' but I liked them better. There are two other great tracks on this album 'Hot Summer's Day' and 'Girl With No Eyes'. A must have album from that era.
The live versions of the songs that are on lastfm.com are not as good as the original recording played above.

I love this song too. I like foccusing on 1 vocal and then the other. Either voice could be the lead vocal.
I haven't heard this song in a very long time. I had forgotten about it. It's great. When you hear all the instruments, you know that they are real musicians. deb

You have great musical taste DK's mum .... I've always loved this song and most of the album as well ...I liked their second album as well "Marrying Maiden" and later they did a Live Album from Carnegie Hall that had mostly tracks from these two Albums ... The "White Bird" song version from this show was just fabulous ...

That album was quite a surprise when my brother bought it in the sixties. Certainly wasn't what we were "looking for" but the whole of album was full of great music that couldn't be denied.
Usually played just before or after Love's "Forever Changes", Steve :-)

I Love this tune also.
Me and Terri took a two day run up the northern California coastline along Hwy 1 this weekend. Truely truley heavens landscape up there with the great giant redwoods, the deep blue waters with high cliffs. We stopped at a little town along the coast for lunch and White Bird played on the speakers. Before the song was over, I noticed everyone 40yrs-plus was singing it!
Living around the SF Bay area is really cool because I can take a one hour ride into the city (SF) and be at Haight-Ashbury where you can go back in time to the 60's. Jefferson Airplane, Santana, and quite a few more.......
Very cool!

We visited San Fransisco a few years ago. We went on an amazing trip down the coast to Monterey and also went North to see the redwoods and the wine district. I remember fields of pumpkins, psychedelic Haight Ashbury and those wonderful coloured wooden houses. We also visited this enormous market in San Jose which seemed to be in the middle of nowhere. Dirge did not want to come with us and stayed at home to look after the house. She decided to rip out a very old kitchen while we were away so we had no choice when we got back but to order a new kitchen. We were pleased with the result in the end though.

Thanks for the flashback. I was very very stoned to that album way back in 69. As far as I can remember.
