Yonlu - A Genius
This young boy who took his life at the age of 16 was most definitely a genius. He played many instruments, composed songs and was a talented artist and photographer. Please support his music and his family. He just has three songs on myspace but his family has made a CD which can be obtained from Amazon.
Yonlu
Why do genius's only stay with us a short time ?

Listening to him now...on myspace..WOW... and what an ARTIST from such a young age also, in addition to Photography, and he began reading Kafka at 12! Definitely reminiscent of Nikola, eh? Awesome that his family is continuing his legacy, much like you are Jill, with your amazing daughter Dirgek!
Why do these free spirits who are more self-actualized than the rest of us, only remain for a short time?
I think it's because they are so out of place in this crazy world, that they only visit it for "a brief moment in time" ; many of them somewhat tortured by their awareness of truths of the screwed up planet we inhabit. I also think that is why some genius-types go mad, like Sid Barret and many others; or in that tortured state commit suicide, end up with some kind of horrible fatal illness or disability, like Stephen Hawkins (alluded to above), or turn to hard drugs & alcohol, and leave this earth on a timeframe that seems to us to be far too early.
It seems like their spirit is just too strong & their soul too evolved to stick around for long. This phenomena is true of martyrs like Martin Luther King Jr., Jesus, Ghandi, Malcolm X and many others. They make their impact, and then must go on to the Great Dance.

This is really cool stuff!
Folks around here know that I have a thing for Brazilian music and this is pretty good stuff. Reminds me a lot of Caetano, especially stuff from his Transa album.
Thanks for sharing!

urrr... it's off the subject of the two genius artists in question, but does your love of Brazilian music include: Max Cabillera (spelling wrong?) of Sepultura & Soul Fly or these recent IAC Artists from BRAZIL Dr. Sin?
Just curious. I know you're talkin' about traditional brazilian music probably.

I've heard Sepultura, but not Soul Fly. And, honestly, I just don't have the stomach for thrash/death/speed metal anymore. Classic metal like Priest and Maiden are still cool, but not the thrashier stuff.
And, I did not know or hear from Dr. Sin yet. I will search him out.
Oh, and by the way, the Brazilian stuff that I love so much isn't really so much "traditional" Brazilian music, but would be classified more as "Tropicalia" or "MPB" (Modern Pop of Brazil). Some Samba, Pagode, and Bossa influences, to be sure; but it's certainly not "traditional".
Thanks for the heads-up on the Dr. Sin though, Phlegm.

Hop, do you like Vitor Ramil ? Here is Yonlu singing one of his songs Estrela, Estrela.
Yonlu's message to his parents advising them to use his music for comfort
'“I believe that the right cadence and harmony at the right moments can awaken any sentiment, including happiness in the most somber moments.”
