All chart positions in song contest have changed !!
What happened, all the songs in the song contest have changed position. Is Sort by Votes not working properly or have the judges voted and changed the order ??

I inquired about this issue and the cause for this I'm told is that it's just a process that runs secondary to throw out votes from multiple accounts attributed to the same entity.

Jeff, voting is in progress. It's in real time, and songs move immediately with votes. If a song jumps several positions it means that a number of songs in a certain block must all have close to equal votes, so a few votes swings it. It's very tight in some categories.

I don't think it had anything to do with normal voting, I have been watching daily. Its related to whatever "adjustments" were made(In my opinion). No worries....I am sure you guys have it handled behind the curtains

yea, pretty confusing. my system has crashed a couple of times mid-voting. but my one song in alternative fell from 17 to 31 overnight. oh well. I'm surprised it even got votes considering that "alternative" seems to be the catch-all genre, from electronica, to country to hard rock... makes me wonder what the term "alternative" really means.
anyhoo... best of luck to all. back to task.

yeah also mine dropped from #19 to #28 (i have been around #19 for weeks..). no problem anyway, i'm still next to 'swine flu you' and 'kill your parents', that's important:)) though i don't have multiple accounts, i always selfvoted once a day from this account giving the other 9 votes to 'swine flu you' and 'kill your parents' plus some other tracks i like. this should be easily verified by admins. probably knowing that voting will end tomorrow a lot of contestants started suddenly to vote hard:)p the main problem is that i noticed that august listens are considerably less than july listens (300.vs.2000), so it indicates a drop of interest in the contest tracks..anyway this contest already gave me more results than i expected..but don't axe my track from round3 only because i'm already happy ahahahha

We believe that it has something to do with too many votes coming from the same IP address...we fell from #1 to #27, just like that...we have been letting some of our friends and family whom do not have internet access use our computers to vote from...guess they don't count, which is unfortunate because they are our biggest fans!

If votes come from the same IP address it doesn't mean that it is the same person. What about places of work where you have friends that like your music and want to vote for it where all computers are on the same network ?
Your Waterloo is still doing well Auset and your Brother John Richard.

I scooped this, here is how it works
=============================
What is an IP address?
Every device connected to the public Internet is assigned a unique number known as an Internet Protocol (IP) address. IP addresses consist of four numbers separated by periods (also called a 'dotted-quad') and look something like 127.0.0.1.
Since these numbers are usually assigned to internet service providers within region-based blocks, an IP address can often be used to identify the region or country from which a computer is connecting to the Internet. An IP address can sometimes be used to show the user's general location.
Because the numbers may be tedious to deal with, an IP address may also be assigned to a Host name, which is sometimes easier to remember. Hostnames may be looked up to find IP addresses, and vice-versa. At one time ISPs issued one IP address to each user. These are called static IP addresses. Because there is a limited number of IP addresses and with increased usage of the internet ISPs now issue IP addresses in a dynamic fashion out of a pool of IP addresses (Using DHCP). These are referred to as dynamic IP addresses. This also limits the ability of the user to host websites, mail servers, ftp servers, etc. In addition to users connecting to the internet, with virtual hosting, a single machine can act like multiple machines (with multiple domain names and IP addresses).

I've been away for a little while I'm not sure what's going on. I think my songs were added via cd baby and I believe I also added them some time later as well. Can anyone help with info. I would like to find out if my song/s are still on the runnings and in which category.
I notice however that one of my songs is #12 ob the Contemporary/Christian chart. Where as before is was like below 40.

"we have been letting some of our friends and family whom do not have internet access use our computers to vote from"
While I can appreciate that, this opens a host of problems if it were allowed. There has to be a method to track the "Gamers", andIP address is the most effective way. If this were allowed, everyone could claim the same thing, open up bogus accounts, and claim it was family and friends using their computer.
Alot of people have access to one computer, I suspect if my wife wanted to vote for me she would not be allowed as we share the same IP address. It's not totally fair, but it is just part of the problems associated with votes on the internet. Also, those using dial up are very hard to track as each connection may bring a different IP address with it.
There is no perfect system, but you have to at least try to balance the contest. The judges will remain in control no matter what the popular vote says.

As long as your're still above the fold (top half), I wouldn't get too worried about it. Round 3 coming up. Pretty well brought the top ten down evenly, indicating much activity there from the same IP.

ip addresses can be static or dynamic, mine is dynamic, it changes slighly for each connection, but even if the ip changes the computer is always easy to be identified. anyway the account i used was always the same, i used it on my work computer too. so i always used the same account on two different computers, not two different accounts on the same computer:))..also because i've only this account on iac and no parents/friends are voting for me.. those bastards are not my fans ahah.. i find my few fans only randomly on the net or playing live in bizzarre places, among the illest people around of course:p
