Hey Loren,
I'm very sorry to hear about your mother. I know exactly where you're coming from. My mother had back pains for six months and they told her it was just age-related disc degenerative disease. Last October a new doctor did the right tests and found metastatic lung cancer. From then on I was with her every minute that I possibly could be and I know you are doing the same thing.
Our thoughts and prayers are with your mother and you and your family.

My sympathy, Loren!
Just continue to compose songs like your instrumental "shrouds". Songs like this help us to remain at peace even when loved ones leave us. I remember listening to Fauré's Requiem with my father on such an occasion. Now that he is gone, I know more than ever what peace can come from music: when my girlfriend (she's an opera singer) sung César Frank's "Panis angelicus" at church, it was a very emotional, very special moment. A few days before he left, I had accompanied my father to see Verdi's Opera Falstaff: after good laughs (the Falstaff interpreter was just great) the ethereal fairy choir in the end gave us much peace.
And then I accompanied my father back to the hospital... and there was just the wind in an alley of old trees...
All the best!
Timo / Magnetfisch
PS: btw, your song would have been great as a soundtrack for the movie "Marie Antoinette" (with songs such as "Plainsong" and "all cats are grey" by The Cure").

Hey Loren! When Mom got breast Cancer and was real sick I moved back home to help her out with everything everyday. I'm real glad I did. Good thing, she recovered and is still living but in fear it will come back. I'm very sorry for you and your family. I hope you've had a chance to spend many happy years with her. There is nothing like a good Mother when a Man needs a Woman friend. She'll be in my thoughts. Take good care and cya next time!

You will be in my thoughts and prayers, Loren. My Mom developed a type of fibrosis of the lung and BOOP pneumonia after taking amiodarone for a heart condition. I sympathize with what you are going through. God bless you and your dear Mother.
