YOU MIGHT WANNA TAKE A LOOK AT THIS ADMIN!!!

Say there.....oh invisible forces at work behind the scenes!!!

Wouldn't it be splendid if once logging in to IAC, one could go about one's business and edit one's blogs without having to go through the drama of returning to one's 'personal area' to do so!?

It would be utterly superb if whilst reading one's own blog, station or page, one could just edit it....there and then!!

Focus on the energy, breathe hard and shake the donkeys tail............for he will thank you later.

Well administration area is one click away from every menu if you click login, doesn't seem much different to me. Besides we don't want people to be able to edit posts on somebody else's blog. We are going to have a preview blog function eventually.

I sort of don't understand why so many people persist in posting site issues on the pipeline when we've said so many times about our dedicated support box. Verity and I are not tekkies, you want to let the right people know about your suggestions and it's not us. iacsupporthotline@gmail.com

Tobi-Wan-Kenobi, I must warn you....the Shaman and I go way, way, WAY back and I am menstruating right now!!

Your insistance for us to use the IAC support line just makes me want to use the pipeline more!! Isn't it more to the point that it's the using of one means of communicating over another that "doesn't seem much different"!!?

If you are logged in to your own account then how would you edit someone elses blog!? Me Don't understand!? Artists/Listeners are logged in and have their own ID, which would mean that only THEY could edit THEIR contributions...........you could have a 'save all changes' option on the pages.

Love Jack

I'm not quite sure how that would be different than the 2 clicks it would take to edit any of your posts on your blog but I'll put the concept as I understand it in the programmer's box.

In a few days we're going to be posting guidelines and after that, will be immediately moving off the front page any support issues. As explained before, we see the pipeline as being for listeners too and not just artists so we prefer the small amount of room for topics there is on the front page be utilized for discussion and music things.

.....We realise that you and Verity aren't TechHeads but is it too tedious for you to pass on such info gathered in the Pipeline which would appear to be your main IAC 'home'? You are part of IAC 'admin'/management are you not?

The advantage to ALL concerned when posting such feedback in a blog here is that various people in this community then have the opportunity to SHARE views on any issues/requests and ALSO as a direct consequence you the IAC Admin can better assess the wishes of its members.

The HOLLYWOOD problem was/is a good example of how sharing info in the Pipeline is better - We were able to learn that the problem applied to many of us. FYI - It's late on Monday and I've still got station numbers and not names on my Artist's page.

The iacsupporthotline is surely more appropriate for reporting individual problems.

Not being able to remain logged in is very tedious. Example: I come to check out the topics, see that there is one (this one) I want to contribute to, but then have to go to my login which then takes me to my admin page and/or when I arrive back here I am presented with only the original comment and not the one I wish to respond to (yours, in this case).

I know of no other internet discussion forum/blog/topic system which is as 'clunky' as this one. And as for editing - How many months is that likely to take, I wonder?

Sorry, but the user-friendliness of interface is extremely important if you want to retain people's attention. IAC admin, please take note.

You have trouble staying logged in? You should've written to IAC support long ago. I know I log in when I arrive at IAC and stay logged in the whole time, because I navigate from one area to the next.

The blog/forum hybrid we have here is a different ball of wax. Programming is pretty complex. Though we do have a lot of improvements on our big list that will be coming eventually.

And no, sending your support inquiries to support is more appropriate. The front page is to provide an ambiance for listeners and posts saying Admin, get over here don't quite fit what we are asking for but I won't need to be bringing this up anymore because our new tool is almost completed and every single support post from that point forward will be moved off the front page. We're sorry if you don't like that but we want to make the site as formidable as possible for those who show up to listen, it's very easy to drop an Email to support, we're not asking that much.

It surely does Silvy!! Personally me don't see nothing wrong with it....everybody gets to see what a quick and helpful response is provided by IAC when the pipeline is used!!

Now how could that be a bad thing!!? Free advertising of your service.

I mean sorry if I come off harsh but can we have some common sense here. Do you think listeners want to read artist gripes and such on the front page? Is that the face of IAC you want presented here? If so, we disagree. We want a rocking page that's geared for listeners and does nothing but draw them in to everything good about the artists on this site.

Actually we get glowing comments about it all the time, I didn't mean to say "so many" but rather, that there are a few people who seem to think so, I even find that remarkable.. These same people probably have pages at My Space where they wouldn't answer you if you told them you were going to kill yourself.

Hi Toby,

Slight misunderstanding on the login subject. Yes, I remain logged in during the same browser session but have to log in each time I launch the browser - No option to Remember Login.

If you insist on stating that emailing IAC Support is more appropriate, I suggest you read my post again and I'll be happy to further explain anything I've written that you don't understand or which I haven't been clear enough about. It's about NETWORKING and SHARING FEEDBACK so that Admin can assess the opinions discussed OPENLY by members and then act appropriately.

This is just intended as honest feedback for everyone's mutual benefit.

Actually.....I am unhappy about one aspect of IAC, the lucky ferret I was sent on joining died when me's got him home. That was three or four months ago and I'm STILL waiting for a new one!!!

No, Silverwood, you just need to refresh your song order on your page or station that the player uses and that should create a new xml file for you.

There are absolutely no Franks in the support box in 2008, must've went into the internet abyss or something. Silverwood Studio and regular community members, always feel free to write me directly at iacmusic@aol.com. It may sometimes take a day cause I'm a full time college student as well but I will definitely help you if I can.

I do get logged out occasionally but I think it's probably the browser & I must say IAC backup on tech & any other niggles is the best I've found on the net and into the bargain you know they really do care about the site & everyone on it whether musician or listener, and yeah, myspace is absolutely hopeless with any admin queries of any kind! & the IAC community rocks in all directions, we're just a regular family with our little ups & downs LOL, very cool :)

Toby, you're a full time college student !!!!!?????? In which case you're doing pretty well. Is this whole site run by college students? In fact, is there a page which profiles the people who run and admin IAC?

Add Comment

1/28/2008 2:12:26 PM

No I'm the only college guy I think. Russ graduated in 2006. except I don't really know the programmers and backend people personally, I think some of them might be. We did have a small IAC staff section up in the about area for about a year but it needed to be updated a lot so I think one time it was removed for that and just never replaced. The founders are not the type of folks who want a lot of name credit, they feel like the artists are what IAC is about.

Thanks for your answer, Toby.

Now I know more about IAC's engine room I shall try to be patient.

I understand the fame aspect of name credit but was thinking that even a minimal profile would help to inform more about IAC. I, for one, have always been naturally curious to know more about the people I go amongst or communicate with. But no problem.

Thanks,
RR

Interesting thread... I don't know what it all means.. but I wish you well with your studies Toby. And one thing I like about this site - even having been on the receiving end - is that the IAC gang wants things to run a certain way and if we, the customers, don't like it, well hit the highway jack. Very refreshing approach in this overly entitlement-driven, ass-kissing commercial world we consumers live in.
I'm a lifetime member too which I think is super cool. My membership runs out in 2109 or something....
