Introducing Us.
Hi, Don't really know how this IAC site works yet, but my friend Monkey 68 insisted that I should give it a shot. So we are shooting! Here's our story.
Combine the Victorious is an indie pop group from Vancouver, Canada. Fronted by husband and wife team Mark R. Henning and Isabelle Dunlop, Combine the Victorious was born in the spring of 2005 when Isabelle challenged Mark to create their own music. After a year of writing they realized they'd developed a sound; Anthemic Dance Rock, and went about recording and mixing the eleven songs that form their debut cd: The World Over.
Their album is rooted in the great traditions of pop music but owes its sound to no single genre, nor any specific era. Influences range from the ever present Beatles, and move through The Who, Queen, David Bowie,The Stone Roses, Primal Scream, The Dandy Warhols up to post-rock champions Sigur Ros. The combination of these traditional elements somehow creates a fresh and fun sound that is well suited to getting a house party started or moving people to the dance floor.
In addition to being featured on the television series Whister, the song Blue Kitchen is now the theme music to the brand new series About a Girl.
Mark was a founding member of Reprise recording artists Pure, whose career spanned the 90’s. After leaving Pure he formed Blisterene but running an independent record company and attempting to finance it almost entirely on his own proved too costly, so he turned to engineering and producing for a living. Scottish born Isabelle Dunlop is a highly successful fashion designer in Vancouver, and had never tried her hand at singing until the two of them started Combine the Victorious. Now, complete with a five piece line up, they look forward to bringing their exciting live show to audiences the world over.
