Why it's called Dafty
Our song Dafty has had that title from the very first evening we started with the song. Initially it was a working title but after we had the entire album completed my friend Jordy suggested that it wasn't too bad as a proper title either. In its first incarnation, before we added real drums, it had a synth bassline that sounded considerably like Daft Punk, so Dafty was an obvious reference for the track. Months later, when we went into Mushroom Studio to track the live drums, I brought this song out for Jonas Fairly (drummer and singer in Black Betty) to try his hands at, and his interpretation gave a whole new meaning to the song. Suddenly it was no longer a throw away electro track, but rather a cool indie dance rock number that evoked my favorite parts of Primal Scream or The Stone Roses. I spent a few days completely reworking all the instrumentation and the form of the song, keeping only the bedtrack drums as a guide. The final result is the song that you can hear on our page.
Have a listen when you have time. It's different from Blue Kitchen and King's Cross, but fits well in the sequencing of the album: directly after Blue Kitchen opens up the disc, we slide in the distorted bass line of Dafty. Shades of Love and Rockets meets The Stone Roses, all with Isabelle inimitable style on top. She wanted a straight dance number for the cd, and she got it!
Cheers

Hey Mark, I think you may have to try uploading "Dafty" again, there seems to be an error. Vee
NB, I'm not sure that "Daft" is a word used/understood in the USA can anyone deny/confirm that?
