What's the best way to pick a genre for your songs?
Hello out there,
My mind is spinning from all the choices. Is there some sort of guideline you can use to establish where a song should go?

Have a listen to some of the songs in the genre that you think your music might sound comfortable amongst. Keep testing various genres until you find one which suits.
I have the same genre problem with some of my music.
Don't forget that you can select or even create your own sub-genre to title each song.
In spite of such an extensive list, there's some genres missing - Film for example. Trance? Reggae?

Just as a 'by the way' one of the useful features I have found at IAC (and nowhere else) is the ability to move your song to another genre if you think you've made a mistake. You could be way down in Pop for e.g. and then decide it could be retro or easy and actually move up the ain a different chart. Another great option of course is that useful "No Genre" genre :)

I usually use a sophisticated method ... Just assign a number to each genre and throw darts ... it seems to work best when I'm slightly inebriated .. :)
