A new station - Pipeline People
Hey all,
I've started a new station called "Pipeline People". It's a small homage to the folks who are both artists and regular contributors to the Pipe. This will take me a few days, I'm sure, but I'll try to get a song from as many of you folks as possible.
Since I've just started, I've only got a few....if you are always here and have a REALLY STRONG feeling that a particular song of yours is the one, let me know. Otherwise I'll just pick 'em as I go.
This will be fun for me, I'm only taking one song per artist. That's actually harder than it sounds.

Great idea for a station, Kurt. I won't presume to know what I think you would like but
I've tried to put the best songs first so you may get lucky without going to far. You could always be different and start from the bottom up. (not that there's anything wrong that!)

Hey Everybody,
I've added a few more here during lunch break! The Pipeliners are such great musicians that what I thought would be a fairly simple task is turning into a quest!
Added the Code, Jesse and Richard....chugging my way thru the regulars. Thank you for all of the great music.

Hi Kurt, Thanks for the add and the very nice comment about my song. Yes I would consider myself a "Pipeline Person" but I have dialed back a bit, I refuse to participate in any negative threads, and unfortunately we still have that.... its endemic. I have had to bite my tounge, or hold my fingers back on many threads as the asinine quotient hit the roof, but it passes and I am much better for abstaining. There are few winners, and many losers. Of course , to some it does not matter as they are fictionalized characters.:) No worries, its all good...We live in serious times, and no matter what lies ahead, writers and musicians will always have their craft and inspiration. Good and bad times......Life is Now...
Peace to all..... Heres to the great music, and all the music yet to be created!

Jeff if you're giving that up, why do you have to mention it and antagonize in your own way?

Thats funny Bluto since antagonizing is "all"" you are about. I don't believe I have said anything groundbreaking, or painted you in a negative light that you have not already consciously pointed at yourself to get a rise out of people. If you enjoy it, more power to you...Have fun. seriously, I mean that. You have chosen your persona, I am just commenting on it and my personal choice to abstain from the obvious. I have chosen not to enable people like you, don't try to bait me as you may strain your neck as I am taking the high road. I am just publically stating my personal decision to change the way I interact here on the pipeline. I am not an anonymous persona, I have a personal reputation to uphold. I will be the first to admit I have participated in many pipeline conversations that were neither constructive or personally relevant, in my opinion they were embarassing to all participants. However, only the "real" have anything to lose. You call it "giving Up", like I am losing something valuable., The only thing I am giving up is argumentative negativity that goes absolutly nowhere. If I have somehow insulted you Bluto, I apologize... however, I don't believe I have, How can I insult a cartoon character?? You are adept and are suceeding on what I believe you set out to do. My comments are not vindictive or "Antagonistic".I wish you well, whoever you are. Just be honest, you love to stir things up to get a "rise".... If you were honest, you would post under your real identity. The fact that you don't just tells me you do not want to be associated with your words or actions. I understand, I get it. There are many advantages to remaining "anonymous" However, I am here posting my original music, remaining anonymous makes no sense for me.
I could easily create a persona to "spar" with the gloves off, but that is both immature and pointless. So, I post under my real name, I must be mindful that whatever I post can be read by family, friends,as well as present, and future employers. I am just clearing the air, and stating my intentions to be a positive contributor to this site. I will not post my intentions again, or allude to characters or perceived negativity. I have spoken my peace, Live and Let Live. I apologize if I was long winded, or I somehow contributed to the negativity I am trying to avoid. I won't speak of it again;these are just my personal observations...nothing more, nothing less.
Sorry for posting this on your thread Kurt, it just seemed relevant. I appreciate what you are doing.
Peace.

For the record Bluto, I did not mean to single you out, there are many "Characters" on the pipeline...some are cartoons, some act like cartoons.... "cartoon Character" was just more de_scriptive.
|
|
|
3/10/2009 7:44:06 PM
My point is, if you're avoiding negativity, why come on and refer to all the "losers"?
|
|

Jeff Allen Myers
|
3/10/2009 8:43:20 PM
Few "win" an arguement on the net. In my mind many times there are nothing but "losers" when things get heated, insults fly, and insidiary comments are thrown about callously. I include myself as I have engaged in many over the last year.
I did not mean the people in general were "losers", just in the isolated incidents where few "win" . The outcome in online debates is seldom decided, and all participants are oftentimes shown in a bad light. This is not limited to spirited debate, it adheres to those that take the bait from personas that often times display troll like behavior.
I hope I made myself clear, I am not trying to insult anyone who regularly participates in the pipeline. I hope to stay involved, I am just going to try to adjust the way I interact. Again, I am sorry if I contributed to any negativity.

I am far above anything getting under my skin Phlem, its not one of the issues I highlighted. However, If its made personal I will respond as that will not be tolerated. As a community, we should never let it get "personal" I am not talking about common insults, I mean truly "Personal" inflaming rhetoric that crosses the line.I have not seen this happen as yet, however I have seen some truly tasteless comments that really left me shaking my head and my eyes were opened. Unfortunately, insults are thrown around so often they are not only tolerated, they have become the norm.As a whole, If thats how we want the pipeline to operate, far be it for me to state otherwise. All in all I love IAC.

There are jerks in the world who jump right up to point out when someone has an acne breakout.
They're bullies w/o a cause.
Jeff once thought I was Bluto because I used a similar private de_scription of a particular work of his. It was weird, and an unusual coincidence, but when I tried to clear the incident, it seemed to only make it worse.
Such is the disconcert they create.
Yet, to be fair ...
Kurt, please include their music on the pipeline station ...

Jeff started it, Kurt Kurtley. He came on here and decided to throw a blanket diss at some of us so I responded. If he had done it elsewhere I would've gladly responded wherever.
I was also wondering if you're related to an IAC artist I heard named Dis Disley. :D

You guys are funny, you really are. "Jeff Started it"..... wow are we children or what.? Popeye said "I yam what I yam" Bluto, "you are what you are", excuse me for pointing out the obvious. You like to stir things up... Come on, you revel in it...you are a smart guy, I am not being malicious.
Kevin not sure what your getting at, but I read it as a diss...whatever, lets just stay on opposite sides of the pond. The issue was dead, you brought it up again. Weird is right, you were the one that went off the deep end accusing IAC admin of spying on your mail and setting you up.... You my friend are the one that made it weird. I made a comment, and if I recall my uneasiness was brought up to you in Private e-mail, you made it public. and I might add,, you defended yourself a little too vigorously in my mind. If someone insinuated something about me I would have simply laughed it off. Do you not recall you thought it was a little too coincidental as well??? don't come on here with a little revisionist history and insinuate I am "out there" .....Please. Personally I don't care any longer who Bluto is. He is more benign then malignant, and some find him "Brilliant" so live and let live...make IAC what you will.
Kurt, sorry for stirring things up :) I was just clearing the air why I have not been around the pipeline as much, but it seems I have struck a chord.... Sorry...

And back to the PIPELINE peeps station Just checked it out. NICE assortment! Sad that there's a few wonderful folks who recently left, and a couple that were forced out due to their own indiscretions (urrr... Ray Porter), that were pipeline regulars, so they can't be included.
BUT - If you want to include Anjuli, who felt the need to leave IAC, I've got a couple of ideas for you.
She was DEFINITELY one of the former PIPELINE greatest contributors.
She's STILL on IAC, doing a DUET with DIRGEK on BRICKS and MORTAR, and you can also find her doing a BEAUTIFUL version of Sam's REASON ...
Only a thought and suggestion, Kurt. She WAS one of the most creative, intelligent & insightful, yet HUMOROUS voices, on this here pipeline.

Jeff, your work is excellent, there's real power and emotion in your music. It's obvious to me that your passion spills over in what you have to say. And it's hard to (sometimes) ignore those who's purpose is to pick nits...so just let your music speak for you, it's first rate!
I still have more folks to add, I'll try to get to some tonight. To all of you whose music graces the Pipe, thanks!

Jeff,
We're good.
Our prior situation was a very strange coincidence ... triggered by strikingly similar public remarks by a troll ('scuze me, I mean "provocateur") and our private communication about your song; and so ... causing you to question a connection.
My actions, however odd seeming at face value, were solely meant to clear the air between us ...
... by getting every possibility out into the open to disclaim the connection between myself and the troll remarks that raised your suspicion (that included public statement by IAC policy regarding email policy -- I knew it was highly unlikely they were reading member's mail, but still needed saying because of the close similarity of the wording).
... but because of the aforementioned 'inherent problem with internet communication rearing its ugly head' ... it worsened the weirdness.
Meanwhile, adding further troll comments thrown into the mix, keeping the insanity at a fever pitch ... open honest communication broke down in frustration.
Nonetheless, we're good.
You didn't do anything.
I just terribly stumbled trying to make it right ... and it's I who owe you that apology.

No Problem Kevin.... Thanks.
It's all good Bluto, life is too short and there are far too many real problems to face in the world. Besides, we all have new music to write and record, and that is my primary focus for being here. IAC is a great outlet to meet other artists, share creations, learn from each other, and possibly turn new people on to the music.
It's easy to miss the point that a short while ago independent musicians had few outlets to be heard, this site is a godsend. It allows talented musicians to get their music out, many in the past were confined to their bedrooms. I for one am thankful my music has been set free...some will like it, some will hate it...but no matter what it is being heard! That in itself is a blessing... I am sure there will be plenty of spats, misunderstandings, and heated moments in the future. I believe artists carry an extra gene that inflames passion and emotion at times, this can be a lethal combination. :)
Peace,
Jeff
