How Do People Get on the Hitline?
Aside from playing that mod rock kinda thing that the (admitedly few) times I've checked it out seems to dominate that chart?
Is this a committee thing, or like a chart thing, or some of both, or a fearless leader?
Don't interpret this as a complaint, because I have zero complaints against IAC. No one has ever done more to spread my music than IAC, so you'll never get any complaints outa me there.
But how do songs get up there?

That's funny. I just read today's Hitline, and it happens to have a lot of folks I'm familiar with, none of which fit the de_scription I posted above.

A reprint (with minor alterations for topic):
First you've got to pay the hitmaster $200 for song placement:
Please send your fee to:
PO Box 1893
Des Moines IA 44903-1893
There are no refunds.
Once your song fee is accepted, the work will be presented to a panel of reviewers to ascertain whether the submission (it's not yet placed, merely a submission) qualifies on the basis of the following criteria:
1) Your song fee is paid in cash or money order
2) You submit a credit card number for processing
3) You submit at least the required fee (submitting higher fees than requested will expedite the qualification process)
4) You've accidentally sent a blank check
5) You don't know how to put a stop payment on checks
6) You are not currently engaged in a lawsuit against the songmaster
7) The whim of the hitmaster
8) The panel has no vote
Upon the cashing of monies above, and clearance by the financial institution, a temporary spot will be granted and signed by the hitmaster.
Once said temporary spot is place, an email notification will be sent.
Prepare to give the following information online.
First:
Enter the secret code after identifying your unique and individual song with the following encrypted protocol:
Song name = The routing number of your bank
Song title=The account number at above bank with the highest balance
Secret code=Your personal identification number for online banking for above account.
Once these numbers have been received and confirmed:
Congratulations! Your song qualifies for a permanent position on the HITLINE and you're on you way to fame and fortune!
Best wishes for success,
Hitmaster Kev-
