"Stupendose and Ridicular" Has Become Even More Stupendous, Even More Ridiculous...
Matt (the drummer) came and stayed during the holidays several days. I learned the most effective thing we can do to capture beginning tracks is to have me play the acoustic and sing in real time while he plays the drums. My vocals and guitar may get used later or may get tossed, but this set up generates real feeling with very little hassle, and I get drum tracks with life in them. Honest to God living breathing music...
Well, we knocked out a whole album's worth of tunes on his drums (most visits we manage to get 2 or 3), a lot of my guitar and vocals will probably stand , too, although some of the stuff I'm not sure I even want acoustic on, it's just a good place to start.
Anyway, the one I'm pretty jacked up about at present is "Stupendose and Ridicular," my strange song of epic length. I just love the breathing real feeling it has with the drums, the bass, the little xylophone, the Les Paul through the little Fender Princeton. I don't know how much of this version I have posted now will stay, but I do think this song is moving in a direction I love. I plan to add a couple more things, and redo some of what I added, but it sure is sounding like I wanted it too. Yes, the bass is kind of frisky, but there is a style there that is gonna stand...
To me it is beautiful...if you have a spare 6:46 seconds you can enter my musical world working the way I feel it should.
