How often do you put out songs?
In what frequency on average do you finish and release songs?
|
|
You want the other one I think

Quote by Red Roses Black - "In what frequency on average do you finish and release songs?"
______________
Well, originally they were all on analog tape, then I went to 44.1KHz for CD and now I usually record at 96KHz. For release on IAC and the web, usually mp3 VBR highest quality.
The sound engineer in me couldn't resist that!!!! :-D
Seriously though, my song writing consistency is all over the place and depends on my moods and inspiration.
I'm looking for a lead singer and song co-writer right now and once I find the right one, I am aiming to get really prolific with song output :-)

I think i only 'released' one song last year-but strangely for writing it was my best year ever..
I completed about 35 songs and alot are my favourite ones i've ever written..
My computer and my old recording machine broke tho which caused alot of problems and delays-Now i'm trying to learn Cubase so it might be another 6 months or so before i can release anything else...

A while ago I set a goal of writing and recording at least 12 good songs in a year's time. I have slowed it a bit this year. I do need to spend more time writing, and currently have a desire to do so. It's when I have no desire to write or record that I get depressed. If I could write a song every week I think I would be ecstatic, but I'm sure the songs would not be as good every time, so I like to chip away at a decent idea till it is a good song, rather than write something else.

I think we released about 10 here last year!-------- we have other sites too, with different music!
but we have a database of 300 as yet unreleased, so we can pop out a new track---when appropriate----!
However---doing commissions for adds is a different story---we have to listen to the corporate experts--------- and re-record many times----
If the money wasn't good?????

Steve, it can't be lost on you that the time of most productive writing is the time when the studio is busted?
I tend to hoard them all until I get a whole new CD. That usually takes two years.
Along the way I often put up guitar and voice work outs of things to talk over or whatever. My mind is hooked into the album idea. Songs are for me always part of an album.
This an outdated concept, but albums are what i've always loved and always wanted to make, so I work album by album.
I get such a kick out of the idea that no one can stop me from making albums. The technology allows me to do it without approval from a record company or anyone, and it's what I always wanted to do, so that's what I do.

Ya, I miss the album age for sure. Feels like nowadays you have to release new songs on almost a weekly bases just to stay relevant. Doesn't feel like there is truly any great albums anymore. At least commercially. Where are The Walls, and White Albums of my age. All there is now is high-school musical and Miley cirus :(. But whatever form music still lives on, you can't break my ache-breaky heart.
To answer my own question, I tend to try and write and fully produce at least one song a week, to keep well oiled in my production techniques, and keep creative juices flowing.
Sucks about your computer, but I use Cubase and Love it, soo hopefully you have found a new sequencer to call your own as well!

I feel like such a slacker. I only average about 3 a year. Of course, I work VERY slowly.

I don't make any plans and just go with the flow.
In 2006 I put together a collection of my first songs recorded at home and in 2007 met other musicians and recorded the first studio album "Either Side Of Now" and am about to start the second. But I've got several collabs to do and also a hand in production for a singer friend.
Song riffs randomly come into my head all the time. I need to be less lazy about it and record more.
The flute path started as an overgrown path in the woods but is now opening up. A Native friend and flutemaker says it'll eventually become a 5-lane freeway! I just follow the path and enjoy whatever each day brings.
