Your inner Voice
2/15/2008 7:08:18 AM
Many years ago there was a shortage of nurses, so the TV media created hospital shows to glamorize the medical field in order to eliminate the nursing shortage. Then there was a shortage of police recruits, so along came the detective stories, Starsky and Hutch, etc.
All these shows tried to mentally influence young people. They created an image and then transplanted it into the viewer's mind.
The reason I'm bringing this up:
Life has a perfect plan for us. It brought us here and gave us specific talents to use in the furthering of the scheme of things. The problem is that because of external influences of all kinds, we do not develop the skill of listening within and paying attention to what we 'feel' we should and like to do.
Because of this lack of staying in touch with our inner self, we get drawn into all kinds of 'wrong' situation, which are portrayed to us as right by external sources. We have an inner voice which guides us faithfully and flawlessly along our 'path', if you may. But, we have to learn to listen, and, most of all, trust this voice implicitly. It knows what's best for us.
This takes great courage, because at times it prompts us to do things that seem wrong under the present circumstances. But as you follow its promptings more and more and then realize that things are getting better, you will develop confidence in it and your life will get better day by day.
I hope I don't sound like a preacher :) I'm going to be 70 this year and have played (and am still playing) professional music for over 50 years. What I'm saying here comes from life long observations.
Have a great day and keep making music.

Larree - You're a spring chicken :) The first 50 years is for experiencing and maturing, the next 50 is for expressing those experiences with developed and matured music - and you can and will do it!
Have a great day!

Great song! I put it in my station, the Rainbow River. I'll have to write a song now about the same subject :) Thanks for the inspiration!

....Another deep and meaningful topic from you, Helmut. I didn't realise you were 70 - I'm 60 and assumed I was possibly the oldest here.
I've always followed my heart and gone with the flow, and arrogantly don't care what others may think about me.
Every day is wonderful but the only trouble is that life is like a toilet roll....The less there is left, the faster it goes!

Wise words Helmut... a simple principle that's really quite difficult to put into practise in the world we live in! But when it works, it's awesome!

RR - thanks for your message.
'arrogantly' - let's modify this word a bit :)
arrow gently
Stay focused like an arrow and you will gently penetrate the walls of labeling and opinion making of others, and then they will come to see you for who you and your music really are.
...left of life? That's comparing what has elapsed (which is gone and irrelevant) to what might be ahead (which is not yet, ergo not real). The only real moment, or time, is now, and THAT has always been and will always be. It's your deep, inner, eternal essence which, in a very, very deep level, ties you to all.
Look at it this way - when one roll is gone, there are thousands more in the stores :)
Have a great day!

I don't know about cool :), but I tell you, the voice is very faint, and I really have to pay attention. It's like I'm in a football stadium with a wild game going on and a huge crowd yelling and screaming, and there is a little child next to me whispering something to me. Even when I pick it up and hold its mouth close to my ear, I can't hear what the child is whispering. So, I have to leave the stadium and go to a quiet area in order to get the message.
Now, how many of us would go through all that trouble just to hear a faint message of a little child?
The football game here is busy, noisy, attention consuming every day life. The faint voice is the inner voice trying to guide and advise you.
Do you get my drift?
But there is more wisdom and potential benefit in ONE of the child's sentences, than there is in two hours worth of screaming and yelling by the fans.

I'd just like say how good it is to have so many interesting, articulate Pipeliners popping up lately, it seems our numbers are growing daily. We not only have representatives from all over the World we have a diverse range of ages and experiences too - I almost feel redundant these days because everything is chugging along so sweetly. ....Which is why we titled our album "Either Side Of Now", it being very spontaneously recorded in the moment without preconception or songwriting.
Don't worry, I usually buy at least 12 toilet rolls at a time! :)

Helmut
I really appreciate these thoughts---a young chap (like me) needs to be reminded of these things from time to time---even though i'd swear to have had these exact thoughts ---some time previously--I am easily distracted from my path, not by the media--------- but by my own racing thoughts!!!
lovin' it

Magnetfisch - For several years I played music for the local Swiss Club here in Baltimore. What nice, civilized and down to earth people! There were two older brothers, one was 94 years, the other 96. One year the younger one was late for the dinner party. People asked the older one where his brother was and he replied: He is late because he had to cut a tree log into firewood size logs! And this is the truth!
What a remarkable people those Schweizers.
