It's funny you should say that.
I've also gravitated towards the first POLICE album as their best ultimately,
(although, for some reason, I really identified with King Of Pain, some years later)
but the one I liked even more than Roxanne,
was "Can't Stand Losing You"...
"I see you sent my letters back
and my LP records and they're all scratched,
I can't see the point in another day
When nobody listens to a word I say
You can call it lack of confidence
But to carry on living doesn't make no sense
I can't, I can't, I can't stand losing...
Can't stand losing you".
Yeah, that one's my favorite, but Roxanne, to me, yeah that's runner up.

No, i totally agree..
Roxannes their absoloute zenith..A rock/pop masterpiece -Almost as good as it gets..With a magnificent supporting cast, just behind of Can't Stand losing You, message in a bottle and Walking On The Moon
I love their first 2 albums alot - after that they became basically a singles band..Each successive album after the first 2 good for its singles and no more
Each successive album less enjoyable for me than the previous
Have no interest really in Stings solo stuff

I found Roxanne kind of annoying, much prefer the stalking song,
Every breath you take, every move you make I'll be watching you - creepy.
Or the song he wrote about sexy schoolgirls when he was a teacher,
Don't stand so close to me
But if you forced me to listen to Sting it would have to be Fields of gold, but not really a fan of the guy.

I love The Police. I took guitar lessons from Andy Summers when I was in high school before he formed the band. A true master. He turned me on to Ted Greene's Chord Chemistry.
