Text Messaging _ Overrated?
Yes. I for one find it just dumb.

I think it's possibly the stupidest most cognitively dissonant development in modern society.
The loudmouth yammering into his cellphone in a crowded restaurant or the line at the grocery is merely an ass, but the sneaky distracted thumb twiddling text messenger is even worse...You don't get to evesdrop and mutter to yourself about how stupid their daily lives and distractions are, you just get ignored, with the occasional furtive glance or the "I'm sorry, what were you saying?"
I think it should be illegal.

I don't like text messaging...when I get them I ignore them...I had text messages in my phone from 2005 I never read...I have a phone to talk on not to try to type messages hitting keys many times to get the right letter...geez...how inconvenient really.

I'm a texting bastard and I'm not ashamed to admit it
But, I never ignore anyone I didn't plan on ignoring in the first place

Well slap me sideways and call me a tard cause mama's got to have herself her syllables, slang and secret abbreviated messages for the day that no one really understands hence leaving us all in a blissfully unawares and confused state. It's wonderfully divine ! And, might I mention it's an excellent way of avoiding long and verbosely slippery telephone calls ? Oh yes, quite useful...
It's a sneaky tool, it's amazing to be able to converse with someone whilst sitting on the toilet. It's like you're always connected, and that is truly spiritual my friend.
"ha ha ha ah a aha what the hell am I laughing about ... nothing Anus, I mean Amos, I was just thinkin' about that time I was stuck up to my boots in that old fishin' pond and had only one hand with one good working finger to gut the thing before dinner and could have used some advice. It was sad for all involved that I was left to my own devices... we ate beans that nite and no one went to bed happy. It was the next morning that I vowed to never entangle myself in fishing wire ever again on account of looking for a missing hook embedded in an old tire that had gone missing back in the late 20's not that there's allot of those floating around, but you never know... old things have away of making themselves new again but fish are always fish and always elusive when trying to catch them critters... it's a good thing my new cell phone has a camera on it or no one would have ever believed I really caught that damn thing even if it had become unedible within the course of an hour. Maggee had made her special tard sauce too, and didn't take too kindly to having to eat it on beans"
Ok, I'm bored with this now...
( If you read this far you may as well surrender to texting ... it's quicker and would probably make more sense ) kiss kiss bang bang and then kiss again cause kissings funner than banging ... actually ... banging does have it's advantages come to think of it dot dot dot

I bet gettin' a text msg from Anjuli is always an entertaining hootenany, or at least an inspiring moment in one's day.

HA HA!!
yea, a Text from Anjuli would be like a miniature Burroughs Novel....written in l33t.
well, here's the deal, my oldest son wont answer his damn phone, but he'll text.
I have texting blocked on my phone..
so we're having this sort of communications stand off to see who will break down first.
Will he fucking call me or at last answer?
or will I call Verison and put texting on my phone?
hmmm...
I really don't want another process dividing my attention, I already have a strange vertigo from the damn cell phone, I think it's so weird that I can be nagged by remote control...

So totally overrated. I'm an anti-texter, part of the reason I refuse to let work give me a blackberry. No thanks. It's like talking to my kid sister when she was 14... u r gr8t .... ic....oh..... I like deep thought provoking conversations...text messages drive me bonkers.

I avoid deep conversations as much as possible, but am always drawn in if I happen to find myself inspired in the ways of the deep... although that is debatable and quite subjective. Who was it that said " Throw me in the shallow water before I get too deep " ? ... oh yes, Edie Brickell & New Bohemians, a band that I still love to this day ! That song spoke volumes to me and probably because I already harbored those sentiments, but I digress ...
I just have to say in defense of my fellow texters out there that those that text use it as a useful & fun tool for the most part, and would probably be able to make eye contact on occasion (though it's not a promise) and commit to a fully present one on one in the flesh conversation when the moment arises. I mean, we don't all live on isolated little islands with just our little text boxes writing out War and Peace in abbreviated codes. It's just a tool like anything else, and yes, some do abuse those tools, just like any other tool. Some people talk too much as well, but I wouldn't call a moratorium on the use of ones tongue. It's all good, it's just another outlet for communication.
Having typed that, I must further add that texting and driving is reckless, so if you must text, please make sure you are not operating any sort of vehicle or equipment that could possibly hurt yourself and others. Also, a bad time to text would be during sex as well, unless of course your having phone sext. (drumroll)
Carry on... I'll only slow you down
