Thanks Vincenzo. We should promote each other as hard as we can, just my opinion. Whenever I published an iMix, I sold a download. That are my experiences with iTunes.

Hi Phlehm of Conversation Suicide!
Unfortunately, you must have a CD at iTunes . I cannot publish an iMix with your music, if you don't have music there. :-)

iTunes takes 29 cents out of each song sold and that doesn't include any fee you might pay to somebody else to get on iTunes in the first place.
Snocap takes 39 cents out of each song you sell.
Sharks.

My CD "In Transition" is on iTunes, and I would be very appreciative to be included in your iMix. When I become a bit more familiar with the concept, I'll try to do something similar.

Susan,
I have already listened to some of your songs and I liked it very much, but there are still a few songs that I haven't heard yet. You will be included in the next imix.

True, those entities are sharks. However, I sell my mp3's for 50 cents here on IAC and the savvy consumer will know where the best value is. Another reason to steer people to THIS website, rather than the others. On the other hand, why limit your exposure? If you only sell through one vendor, then you won't get quite the same amount of ears listening, than if you put your music up on as many sites as possible. At this stage, I'm more interested in getting the music 'out there'. I have no illusions about making a 'living' at selling my mp3's.

Cool idea.
Hop On Pop is on iTunes, too.
To the ethics:
As someone who is only "semi-pro", the money thing is more of a philosophical issue for me than one of actual economics. So, it really doesn't effect me or my bottom line. But it nevertheless pisses me off.
That said, the mix is a nice way to gain exposure for the site and for the artists here.

....iTunes, like anyone else in business, music or otherwise, is in it for the money. Everyone wants a piece of the pie.
I guess it's a test of an individual's 'ethics'. And which would you choose between a small percentage of something and a large percentage of nothing?

Well said...a small percentage of something versus a large percentage of nothing...how true...it's very hard to sell songs online on these sites...I am on IAC and Soundclick and I've sold 5 songs since July. Pretty sad. I am wondering if I were to get on to CD Baby, ITunes would there be an opportunity to be found and sell any music or would it be more of the same...sell almost nothing? I would have to invest in a bar code and pay CD Baby $35 to get the CD up and then make some CDs. I am not a performing musician with fans....I am an unknown...so just wondering what folks think of these are options to get your music out there.
Also it's unclear to me if I join CD Baby what do I have to pay to get on to ITunes....
I think CD Baby will take a $4 cut per CD and it's unclear to me if $10 is the most you can get paid for your CD or if it's $6....and I think they can sell your CD for whatever they want.

Hey Diego!!
good man!! it all helps-----!!
We don't have Itunes as one of our outlets, but it would be the next most obvious site for our music--------could you let me know a few simple facts re subs and sales?
either here or privately!
cheers Rob

I signed for premium membership here, because I missed the contact to other artists, you know...everybody needs a little feedback. This is not a Promo-Blog for iTunes! I signed for Digital Distribution at CDBaby and had nothing to do with everthing else. They sent my CD to iTunes etc. You will not become rich but you you'll get back the costs. If you do nothing, nothing happens. If you create a playlist from time to time, you will sell some downloads.

Well that's interesting Diego. Did you have to pay extra to have CD Baby send the music to ITunes?

It's all part of the package, Beth. That's how I ended up on iTunes, as well as several other sites (some of whom I'd never heard of). In all, a small 'investment', in order to reach a few more ears..

You need a barcode, when you sign for digital distribution. It costs a little bit extra. please go to the CD Baby page, there's every info you need.
