Is anyone else a Co-writer with themselves?
Almost every song I've ever written, was started when I was drunk or drinking. Most turn out to be crap, but a few, on further review, in next day's or week's sobriety, seem to show promise. Some, lay stagnant for months or years until I stumble across them again. Sometimes I find lyrics that are barley readable scratched on a drink ticket (what we in Aggieland call Duddley's Stationary.) Other times, I have left myself a voice mail that after hearing it, sounds like I should have gone home much earlier; And, every once a a while, what I scratched on paper or slurred into my phone, seems to hold a bit of promise. Then my adult self, tries to take what my kid self started and tries turn it into something that both of us might enjoy. I wonder sometimes, if I might not have a bit of split personality. And I wonder, if anyone can guess which one of us, wrote this.

So far I have three of you accounted for i.e. 'The Prolific Drunk', 'The Child', and of course, 'Yourself'... but I'm guessing there is someone else in there unaccounted for as I don't believe any of you three wrote the above post :)

Hi Dean .... Well I'd say the only way we'd know is if we were there ... but that depends on which one of us showed up ... and that might lead to a three or four day process ...

The simpler way would be for you to tell us ... of course for you to do so you'll have to figure out which one of you, you are ... and that might be a three or four day process ...

So ... I suggest that you go out right now and get yerself a big shiny tatoo ... make it one of those women tatoos where you can flex your muscle and make her belly dance or her boobs giggle ... just in case your not yourself I wouldn't suggest putting a name on her though .. that is if you've currently got yourself a girl ...
anyway .. by morning you should know whether or not your drunk self was up to something tonight or not ... if it is your normal self writing this ... then to read my response it might make more sense if you turned yourself into your drunk self to make this make more sense ...

Either way ... have a great night ...

Yes I have a Co-writer...because I am amazed at where some of my material comes from, sometimes I swear it's not me, I am just a vessel at times.... :)

Now, you do bring up a good question...I am a different person under the influence...well Maybe not a different person, its all me but some elements that are buried during bouts of soberness rise to the top :)

I used to have those little bouts of sobriety. I get chills just thinking about it.

I'm with y'all. Because of the different states one's psyche is in at times, and the strong feeling of a MUSE out there, I definitely am in collaboration with myself and some type of ethereal phorm of phlegm at times.

Hmmm... I guess I should've posted this one on the "crazy = clinically insane" blog, eh?

DOH!

The most I've felt this is when finishing off song that came to me while I was sleeping. On my page there is a rough out of one I'm writing now for two years called "Endless," The chorus came to me while asleep, I was dreaming I heard it on the stereo in a bookstore. WHen I woke I realized it was no one's song. I also didn't really know what meaning could be put to the phrase, "He calls me endless," but I have never wanted to change it. I just have wanted to work around it's possible meanings.

Anyway, it's generated a lot of poetry getting to this point, and music, too. WHen they come in a dream I kind of treat the germ as sacred and I do all I can to not fuck it up, to grow something organic to it.

That's a co-write, right?

perfect example of what I was tryin' to get across -- whether it's awake or asleep -- these muses bring this stuff to us.... and it's CLEARLY something beyond ourselves.

Weird shit, huh? Makes it hard not to believe in some kind of spirit or spirits out there.
