A big question. Probably its been asked before. But here it is. Don't talk about microbial organisms, just other life forms liek us- unless you use aforementioned lifeforms to expain the possibility of, or lack thereof, otehr lifeforms like us. Let the pondering begin...

LIFE like US elsewhere in the universe? I emphasize the word LIKE here.

Unlikely to be LIKE us, unless the same plasm spread everywhere through meteor impacts and whatnot. If it evolved separately, it's more likely to be completely different.

Other THINKING life? Quite likely. The Universe is very large. Likely to think similarly to us, probably, in general terms, just because of the same physical constraints everywhere. Very very likely to be unfathomable to us in many ways, though, due to differing evolutionary branching.

Would they necessarily care about finding life other than themselves? No.

It's Jim, Life...but not as you know him, pahahaha.

I do have the feeling that other "Life" goes through the very same things we do, in considering other "Life".
