In memoriam: Les and Dixie Lewellyn.
It is with an extreme sense of loss that I bring to you the news of Les Lewellyn's death. You mey remember him from MP3.com under the artist name "ManicD".

I met Les in person back in 2003, at a benfit thrown for his terminally ill wife Dixie, hosted at the Rhythm Room in Houston. Jon "Netjams" was there, as well as Lana Crowley and her husband, Randal. I didn't play at that event, but instead just enjoyed the company of Dixie, and danced with her. She loved to dance, and wear red shoes.

Subsequent to that I played guitar with Les in his band, "Old School", which terminated when they felt it important to be close to their extendend family members, and relocated to Dothan Alabama.

Dixie passed away finally in June 2007. She was 62. Les threw himself totally into his music at that time. He and I talked back in January of this year about him coming back to Houston and collaborating once more. Sadly this was not to be.

Les went into the hospital for emergency surgery on March 8th, and passed away in his sleep March 11th. Les was a young and vibrant 52 years of age.

Les and Dixie are together once more, and I miss both of you more than these insufficient words can express.

Edison,

I am so very sorry for your loss. Les was such a great supporter of Indie music and he played my songs the past 3 years, on his, "Preying Lizard" podcast. I was a bit freaked out and very sad, when in April, one of the CDs I sent him got returned back to me, and the stamp on it, was, "deceased". It really threw me and I coudn't look at the package for weeks. I didn't know what had happened to him, well, now I know. I can't believe that he was only 52, so very young.
I have been keeping him in my prayers, and my thoughts go out to his good friends and family.

Many heartfelt wishes to you, and I hope that time will bring you some healing as you grieve....

- Gina

This news really hit me today.. I couldn't resist and went to listen to the song I wrote and so many of us collabed on to help the benefit for Dixie. Man it sent a lot of emotions thru me. I thought I should post it here, cause there's a lot there to think about.

I'm Not Ready To Go

You know I betcha they're dancin' up there right now..
