Hello Out there
I'm a total outsider (telling you so I'm not pegged as a regular posing undercover???anyway) I'm not someone trying to do anything other then give my opinion. From what I've seen, this could go horribly wrong. But if so, I'm not losing anything. Also, I hope I don't make this out to be the Juliette Lewis hour , I'm not into her music, I'm a movie buff, who knows about actors.
I want to explain how I heard of IAC. A past roommate was looking for a bass player ( would have killed for a bass player like Phlegm I have to say, ANYWAY) and one of the replies said to check out his/her (can't remember ) stuff on iac. After 40 years in the biz, had never heard of it, but here it is. And the TALENT and abundance of musicians WOW. Still had never heard of it. Ok , I hope this isn't long but here we go. Starting with Aimee's fab idea.First of all, if Juliette's fans would ever come here because of her and visit her page, it's obvious you have no clue about her. So you're shooting yourselves in the foot .The only reason she's getting on Ellen and others is because she's in Drew Barrymore's new movie 'Whip It'. Http://WWW.youtube.Com/watch?v=ZFseC568YK8 You should probably stop going on her page acting all "you're little family" , when you don't even KNOW that. She STILL isn't famous in the music world, though her heart and soul is music. Http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juliette_and_the_Licks "One last time" one can picture. Iac being her roots -wha?? Why would she point her fans to read that? Also, if her fans are drawn here, and don't know this site yet and see 'legalize dope' on her page (not understanding that the stations aren't her creation), they're not gonna believe it's her. So again your campaign is snuffed out! Supposably, she 's all grown up now, her dope smokin days long put behind her,she supports clean. (is that true WHO knows and who cares) but at first view, it doesn't have a Juliette feel. If you don't care about possibly deterring the peeps that you utilize her to draw in in the first place, ignore the previous.
Does anybody even have proof that it's actually her on here? I've searched (web) back on her old profile spaces for 'the licks' and that speal in her bio is the same everywhere. Is it her or a fan? I do believe it could be (have been) though, she'd know ALL places to publicize. Now, what the hell is 'adding to stations' even mean beyond this place? Everyone I search for leads back to this site. How is this supporting her? If everyone here bought her album, although I don't know the #'s of participants on this site, seems to be a fair amount, THAT would B supporting her. She'd prob sport an iac.com Tshirt. Tell her you're doing so on her twitter page, it's as simple as that, she'd mention iac. Or everyone get a twitter account and follow her. That's supporting her, why wouldn't she support her fellow musicians back? If she has the time, she'd probably participate on the pipeline. Check out her spaces, she's ALways posting something crazy somewhere to reach out.
That brings me to another question. Why is there no link to twitter here? You don't need a Juliette Lewis to put this place out there! Twitter is the # 1 marketing tool in the world, why isn't this place linked to it? I search iac, and it doesn't even come up unless I search one of your artists. Twitter has a musicmonday, that would link this place globally in an instant. On the other side of the coin, if you're goal is to stay independent and keeping to yourselves, scratch my last remarks. And I must say it's VERY admirable the personal and individual loyalty. I love that actually, you guys being hidden away in your own space, supporting EACH other . VERY cool. BUT it SEEMS some of you want more exposure, for the love of God have a vote, you want exposure, it's instantaneous through twitter. I'm probably jumping the gun though, by the look at the 'pipeline' you guys like to keep to yourselves.
Ok now for the Pain #1) If you do link to twitter, I advise moving the pipeline off your homepage.More music, less stupidity would be a great step. #2 - If you want to get "fans", don't publicize legalizing dope. It puts you in a box, get power, THEN voice your opinion. If U only want to attract one type (lets face it , musicians get categorized awfully easily these days) then scratch that last remark. #3 - STOP struggling out loud. It's such a turn off. Haven't you heard of making the myth? Those stories are for when you're famous, to inspire!!! Keep it for your friends and families, 'personal mail it' up in here. You're just telling outsiders "can't get gigs cause we suck, but listen to my song you'll LOVE it" You guys can come off so whiny and pitiful. We should be left WANTING to know you. The Myth. Not feeling like you're cousin Jim getting laid off, needing a job cause music doesn't pay your bills, struggling to make ends meet! Silence is Golden. That's IF you're not just here as a hobby. A certain guy here could 'GO' 'All' 'The' 'Way' (outside of here I mean, but does that even matter, who knows) he's got a killer look and style, and a talent that could really pay off. If he would just shut up! wiiin wiiin wiiiin dorky dink. You're a special breed who can ENTERTAIN, of all things.Act like it. Most talent on this site, will never get the time of day because no one has a 'hype'! I've GOT a pitiful uncle Joe who gets all drunk and plays 'Saturday night chicken finger special gig night, I'm not gonna listen to him on my computer, and that's how this place can make one feel. What a shame.
Just a fans point of view. This music site is a hidden treasure, and I envy you all for having your talents. I know I'll keep coming back, and keep trying to get my friends to REALLY check yous out. Unless of course you call me names! Ok , Hitting submit. I'm scarred. running away fast! Alex

Dude...! I'm all grown up, now (and on the downward spiral already, if I must say), and I haven't put my dope smokin days behind me. What has that got to do with anything, anyway? She's gone "clean"? WTF is that, and why is that appropriate to discuss re the Juliette campaign? Are you saying she's gone Mormon? Hell, Donnie Osmond just produced a homosexual kiss just last week on live TV, and I don't think it hurt his image. Why would a 'legalize dope' note on her page?

Anyway, far as I'm concerned, she could post here herself if she really wanted our help here, or we could just try to ride her uncaring coattails. Either is fine by me.

I liked the way half of it WAS NOT underlined and half WAS underlined. Awesome.
There was some good stuff in there about lack of MYTH, most "indie" (hate that word) artists I have ever encountered seem to be either afraid of or lack the ability to create myth, and those that dare to try get the crap kicked out of them by those who won't.
No big whoop, just my opinion, but thanks, Babble, for tossing that out there.

Hi Bluto , hi LyinDan (I come in peace) My understanding was the Juliette campaign was to help YOU bring traffic? It just doesn't seem like her page endorsing pot that's all I'm saying. (I'm a dudette by the way haha) Anyway, I just read some other pipeline stuff going on, I see you'll be directing traffic here soon enough! YES!!!

First of all i retract my pipeline comment. This is very fun! Why did it underline?Thought maybe it was because of the link i put there (obviously that's not how u post a link) but the 'underline' comes after. I didn't do it on purpose jingo (unless that makes it cooler ,then i did) Bye for now :-)

Babble, Pete Townshend himself appeared on our first awards show. If you hadn't heard of IAC til now it's because you haven't been paying good enough attention. :)
Welcome btw, tell all your friends about the pipeline. We're the blazing vortex of the indie revolution.

Stopped in to see who was saying hello, and to respond in kind, and found my name dropped in a positive way in the first few sentences.
That always gets me excited, as I'm sure anybody could guess.
Read the thread, and some GOOD points were made about the whole Juliette Lewis drive, many of us blindly jumped into. Remember - We're mostly Artists/Musicians around here, and not promotional strategists....but we've got a LOT of energy/passion and heart, from what I've seen.
uh... Nice to see somebody new blogging, and here's MY THING: Don't let the "Appropriate ways to Blog" police, make this pipeline a calculated/cold, sterile place.
I think there's a place for keeping it entertaining, sometimes irrational, and often just stream of consciousness posting, 'cause there are so many artistic types floating about, up in here.
KEEP THE BLOGS a little scary, A WHOLE LOTTA Lovin', highly humourous, an maybe just a wee bit Dangerous; yet still positive and effective towards promoting IAC musicians....
know what I mean?
It's my home away from home, ya know.
I don't want to feel like I'm back in the politically correct/overly conservative WORK environment.
We're talking about MUSIC and ARTISTS here!
KEEP the PIPELINE just a little CRAZY, hookay?
