All great songs! I agree! But I have never written anything remotely close to this as I am an R&B/funk guy and know better than to swerve too far away from my lane. Those are great songs though!

"Walk Away Renee" was written by the keyboard player of The Left Banke when he was 17 years old. "Daydream Believer" was written by Neil Diamond and the "The Flower Girl" was written by A. Kornfield and S. Dubott, whoever they are.
Just short and sweet songs, they seem so simple until you try to write one, it has to be a gift. I think I may have come close to doing that one time with one of my first songs, "More Than Beautiful". It got syndicated on a couple of Cable TV shows even in it's original demo mode. Ii obviously needs a Tele lead guitar, bass and drums added but a lot of people really liked this song..

The Four Tops took "Walk Away Renee" to another level, it had to be a great song for any Motown Artist to cover it.

These are some of the thoughts shared by other mp3.com artists when "More Than Beautiful" was uploaded. It took about 10 minutes to write but I didn't expect this reaction. (Thank goodness I wasn't doing the vocals..)

Well, "Walk Away Rene" amen to the 4 Tops, and their rendition, the original is great also, there's the extra verse in the Four Tops version, wonder if that is also the original version?
"a heart on a wall/ so real, so small..."
All grand songs...

This song only took about ten minutes to write. I wrote it in the parking lot before the show at a Grateful Dead concert.

Yes, Greg, I remember www.garageband.com, a happenin' site that suddenly disappeared, one of the Talking Heads managed it, if I recall.
Independent Artist Company (IAC) came along, and Steve Ison invited me over here, Scott and Dave did a grand job designing/launching the site, about 20 years now, an oasis for independent music. Kudos Scott Scott Scott...
The site's helped inspire independent musicians, like Steve Ison and m'self, who teamed up on many collabros, including "Dance Song" on the front page now.
Dance, baby, dance...
Steve's marvelous vocal and production-feel, w the James Bond EG, and the xylophone, kinda unique...I helped with the arrangement/production also...have a listen...

I appreciate some of the comparisons but "Freddie and The Dreamers"? I don't know about that one.
I think it might have worked for "The Searchers" but I'm not sure it was up to The Beatles standards. It did make the soundtrack for an Art Show opening for Cynthia Lennon with her son Julian so I assume they might have heard it, who knows?
One thind I focused on while back in the recording days was creating enough songs for a 2-3 hour live concert where there wouldn't be a dull moment and some must have taken notice because we did get a pretty serious offer but unfortunately my lead singers were content with just session work. Oh well, If only I could sing better.
And there was a song for the long guitar solo jam, I was blessed to have one of the great guitar players anywhere playing on my demos.
"Sea Of Sorrow" featuring "Guitar Ray".

The DC5 had a great sound, no doubt about it. The British really had it going on back in the 60's. Probably still do we just don't hear them anymore..
This was a great also.., "No Milk Today", written buy Graham Gouldman.

Certainly on of my favorite songs during "The British Invasion". It also takes on the subject of police misconduct, some very few bands had to courage to do.
From "The Searchers" --- "Love Potion Number 9".
