Promotion
When does it work, and when does it not?
I may be alone in this observation but I am going to give a case in point for when self promo works against you. This also addresses concerns I voiced in the past. I think it's a shame myself and (as I have observed) others feel they want to remove songs from stations because of the effect that appears to have. As I said I have no grudge for people I disagree with, even when I have reason to - I just don't have time for it in my life. I mention the song The Cycle because going forward in 2009 I choose not to feel as though 'I have to defend myself' or others to simply post or add music to stations.
I should say.. I really liked the song Only In Your Arms... and I even made a comment that Rob should keep Lori around! Her voice really compliments the song Rob!.. I may even have to go back and add it again now that I have said my peace :-)
Just so folks at IAC know this is why you will loose the support of artists and listeners - in case you did not realize, this is not good promo for you as nobody wants to listen to you if they A) don't like you or B) think you're a jackass. :-) .. and I am sure I look that way at times as well .. as artists that's part of what we do in holding up mirrors, the difference is you may not know when one is holding them up to make a point calling you to break on through to the other side. :-D

now ya know what I'm sayin?

Not really, you're sort of talking around what you mean, I think. But listeners are a quirky breed in themselves. No artist should ever take seriously the impressions of any one listener. I once met somebody at mp3.com who had a bad reaction to the large following I had there and he became obsessed with me, committed to convincing everyone my music sucks. After years of this, he then admitted that he never heard more than 10 seconds of one of my songs.

Hi FT, no I am not talking around anything - just stating an observation. Was that you as Picky Vicky btw with the song 'There she Blows', what I saw was whoever created the station posting right before that song decided to remove the station at some point, might have been because of the songs you chose to post several songs later?.. I don't know. I did not catch your show either but I guess you post what you play on your show.

naah, I had nothing to do with Picky Vickie station. I thought it was kind of tasteless using the mucus reference on a shared name. heh Also anybody could go in there and fool w/ that.
