Tough way to make a living

New York City’s Chrysler Building, one of the city’s most iconic skyscrapers, was built in a remarkably short time. Foundation work began in November 1928, and the building officially opened in May 1930. Even more remarkably, the steelwork went up in just six months in the summer of 1929 at an average rate of four floors a week.

Building the Chrysler Building

Here's the video. Check out the guys at 8:00 and be thankful. Long Way Down

Happy Friday,
Glenn

Enjoyed it. Saw documentary on that kinda stuff way back when. They'd jump on and off of the "Eye Beams" as they moved up and down and back and forth on the structure. When someone decided that they had to wear safety harnesses and follow other "safety protocol" the Native Americans refused and threatened to quit working for them altogether unless they were allowed to "DO IT THEIR OWN WAY". Fortunately the Native Americans comprised about half of the work force at the time and all of those "safety protocols" were thrown out. The risks involved was what INSPIRED them to do this type of work in the first place. Evel Knievel's stunts were "nothing" compared to the "every day/routine stuff" being done by THOSE guys! -M-
