This is my first blog so bear with me. I have a new CD out called "Swinging Guitar Sounds of Young America".
http://cdbaby.com/cd/zummo2
The CD is unusual in that every song is a completely different style of music. Each cut is a tribute to an artist or band that I love. All original songs but in the style of Beatles,Earth Wind and Fire, Jeff Beck, Bob Wills, Bluegrass, Blues, Be Bop, World, Cream, etc... I'm proud of it and think it's the best thing I've ever done. A lot of people like the CD and "get" what I am trying to do and I appreciate the praise and the fact that they bought it. It's very gratifying to share music that means something to U with a lot of people. Quite a rush! On the other side of things though it amazes me how may people can't deal with the fact that every song is different, and that some songs have vocals, while some feature my guitar, chromatic harmonica or accordion playing. It saddens me that there are so many closed minds to something musically a bit off course than what they are used to hearing. I personally try to listen to everything. Particularly stuff I don't like just to see if something resonates yet. I figure if a lot of people like something, there must be something to it so I listen to everything and sometimes I actually find something I like after a relisten. SInce the release of the CD it has become apparent that i am in a minority with my listening habits.I've actually had some people say :"Sorry. I won't listen to anything instrumental." Music should be wide open. All I ask is that everyone try to broaden their listening and constantly try new styles of music. U might be surprised by what U find, And while U are at it, please give my CD a listen.
Thanx,
Vinnie Zummo
