URBAN CARNIVAL
There have been some very interesting threads recently (started by Steve Ison) about imagination and dreams related to creativity. I was very inspired by all who participated in that discussion. I was trying to capture some of that inspiration in a musical composition designed to just be wild and free. I had a dream about a diverse group of people coming together in an urban setting to celebrate being alive in the 21st century and all the joy and uncertainty that goes with it. I guess this song is a sequel to another instrumental of mine: "Urban Symphony". I hope you enjoy it..

Oh My, Richard, this is such a great song. Loved the crowd effects and the strategic use of pan. Also, the strings and percussions are right on point. But most of all, the guitar work is absolutely superb. This song gives me the feeling of being at a bull fight or a sporting event in spain or somewhere like that. Great textures and sound scape. At times I felt like you were channeling the great Santana. I have always enjoyed listening to your music but this song certainly moves you into another realm. When I was young and coming up, the old pro's use to say that someone was "showing their ass" when they did something extraordinary musically. They would walk up to me after a good concert and say "You just showed your ass up there and every body was kissing it". So, Damn bro! Your ass is showing!
Much Respect!

Wow that was so unexpected - really took me by surprise in a good way! The track really captures the feeling of an urban soundscape - festival and town vibe combined. Wonderful!
I agree with Stoneman that is has a bit of a Santana feel too! One of my heroes.

Great song Richard. Your dream about 21st century life is something that I share in dreams - the whole feeling that while it is the most exciting thing that has happened yet, there's that edge. An instrumental is perfect too. No words to narrow the feeling of the Urban Carnival down.

Very enjoyable track Richard..The crowd coming in and out works really well - and the shift in mood between the kinda eastern european upbeat section and the more chilled n moody piano part is cool
I really like mood shifts like that

Thanks so much to all who responded. When you take a risk and people are supportive, it encourages more risk taking which is almost always a good thing.
I had so much fun writing and recording this song and that's just what I need to do to recharge my batteries. I didn't follow any personal rules or formulas and just went with my gut. I'm going to try and do more of that. Thanks for the station adds, Steve and Rob.
