re: your songwriting
What kind of new stuff are you writing about? Describe the general direction of your new songs in both lyrical and musical terms? Are current events dominating your creative thoughts (or not)

I always consider current events.
The song I've been working on is about a situation I had with a girl and her parents coming out of college, it's sort of a one-of-a-kind song.

Just finished a song which I have to upload - but currently can't get Portland out of my mind and a song keeps sort of writing itself - it's a capella - which is something we never do and the words are totally about the events of the last few days - also something we never do ... should be done soon

Been working on some non-original stuff for a change. Right now i am working on an acapella version of the Black National Anthem. Trying to take a unique approach to it with an updated sound. Also working on a new Blues tune amd a Hip-Hop ditty that has no lyrics yet.

I've got a kind of lockdown rhythm running round and round my head with no real tune yet - quite a simple pattern of two line rhymes .... no idea where it's going yet but I hope it goes somewhere haha!!

I haven't been writing directly about the current situation, but it's been influencing the emotion in a number of songs. Writing has been a method of escapism, so naturally the implication is there. My lyrics tend to be highly metaphorical and that hasn't changed.
Musically, the songs are shaping up to be more dense instrumentally than the other originals I've posted. When I started recording music about 13 years ago I always had layers of guitar, so I'm going back to my roots so to speak. Hope to share some stuff soon.

Musically I'm trying to vary my sound as much as possible while still maintaining a consistent thread. I'm delving into more hard rock as well as very melodic acoustic rock as well as some introspective ballads related to relationships and the mood
of the times. I have to find the right balance between the dark and the light. I'll be on the metaphor train like Mike Lance. I don't relish being overly literal.
