Terrible and Wonderful Events That Inspire Songs
All the footage on the news of the terrible tsunami and earthquake in Japan reminds me daily of the 2004 Thailand earthquake where my son was when it happened. Not knowing if your loved one has survived is one of the most horrendous experiences but led to positive changes in my life. I wrote Full Circle as a result of that tsunami, it changed my life and became the title track of my first album.
It is so extraordinary how an event terrible or wonderful somewhere else in the world can inspire a tune, poem or painting that can in turn change your own life.
I can't stop thinking about those poor people in Japan and their relatives.
